Exchange Hanoi culinary culture with international friends

Introducing many specialties at the Hanoi Food Culture Festival 2023

The festival has 80 booths, divided into 3 areas: international cuisine area; area introducing culinary culture space of typical craft villages and performances by artisans of traditional craft villages of Hanoi ; area selling and enjoying cuisine of provinces and cities.

The international food court introduces to the public typical dishes of some countries and displays typical items and products of the following countries: India, Iran, Sri Lanka, Mongolia, Azerbaijan, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines... Introducing and enjoying the art of making tea, enjoying tea in a special space with premium teas.

The cultural space introduction area offers diners special dishes and typical products of Hanoi's traditional craft villages such as: Me Tri green rice, Phu Thuong sticky rice and sweet soup, So village vermicelli, Bao Phuong traditional moon cakes, Uoc Le ham, Thach Xa lam tea, Ngau village wine, Quang Phu Cau porridge, Hoa Nam rice rolls, Thach Xa lam tea, Tam Hiep eggplant with soy sauce, Hong Van Nam banana, Ha Mo se porridge... Some dishes are recreated, introducing skills and practice processes: Uoc Le ham, Pho rolls, Thanh Tri traditional rice rolls, Ho Tay shrimp cakes...

The sales area introduces specialties from some regions such as Ha Giang (humpback banh chung, smoked meat and mint honey); Son La (coffee, milk); Bac Ninh (chrysanthemum wine, Phu the cake, banh te); Ha Nam (peanut candy, Dai Hoang royal banana and Nhan Hau braised fish); Ninh Binh (goat meat); Quang Binh (ginseng jam and ginseng tea, ginseng stewed chicken)...

Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Do Dinh Hong said that the festival aims to honor, preserve and promote the traditional cultural and culinary values of the capital Hanoi; build and effectively exploit the cultural, culinary and tourism brand through developing the quintessential, unique and quality culture, cuisine and tourism of the whole country. This is also an opportunity for the capital Hanoi and the embassies of other countries to strengthen and promote people-to-people diplomacy activities, actively contributing to raising awareness, mutual understanding, strengthening solidarity, friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the Vietnamese people in general and the capital Hanoi in particular with international friends.

Within the framework of the Hanoi Food Culture Festival 2023, there will be exchange and foreign affairs activities such as: Photo exhibition on typical domestic and international culture, tourism and cuisine (Denmark, Venezuela, India, Iran, Panama, Korea, Philippines, Laos, Cambodia); mobile book exhibition introducing books promoting typical domestic and international culture, arts, tourism and cuisine.

Traditional art performance program: Hoi An folk song and dance; circus art performance; Intangible Cultural Heritage performance contest “Keeper of national colors”; ca tru; Cheo singing; Xam singing; Trong Quan singing; Do singing; Bong Tan Trieu dance; Gong Chieng art performance of Muong people... Fun, entertainment and animation activities: Workshop on to he figurines, bamboo dragonflies, calligraphy, Dong Ho paintings and some folk games, minigames, and craft village experiences.

Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports Do Dinh Hong added that Hanoi is building a dossier to propose the capital's pho making profession to be listed as a national intangible cultural heritage. Once completed, Hanoi will continue to coordinate with a number of other localities to build a dossier to request UNESCO to include Vietnamese pho making in the list of world intangible cultural heritage.
