Maido, the renowned restaurant from Peru, has been officially named the World's Best Restaurant 2025 in the list of the World's 50 Best Restaurants.

With 16 years of continuous creativity, under the talented hands of chef Mitsuharu "Micha" Tsumura, Maido has woven enchanting culinary stories through the subtle fusion of Japanese and Peruvian flavors.

In the elegant space of the restaurant in Lima, joy erupted as diners and the Maido team joined in the cry of "Maido, Maido!" to celebrate this memorable milestone.

The World’s 50 Best Restaurants list, an initiative launched by the British press group to counter France’s prestigious Michelin guide, shines this year with three regions making their debut.

Runner-up was Asador Etxebarri, where Basque cuisine is elevated to an art form. Third place went to Quintonil, a gem of Mexican cuisine in Mexico City.

Meanwhile, Maxime Frederic, the master behind the sweet masterpieces at the Cheval Blanc Paris patisserie and head pastry chef at Plenitude, was named Best Pastry Chef.

The "50 Best" award has been presented by the William Reed media group since 2002.

The results are compiled from the impartial judgments of a thousand independent experts, including talented chefs, knowledgeable food journalists and renowned restaurateurs.

Although sometimes met with mixed opinions, especially from some French chefs who think the list is partial and lacks transparency, "50 Best" has always been considered a pioneer in capturing and shaping the latest culinary trends, often ahead of the Michelin guide.

To provide a more comprehensive view, in 2015, a group of critics from France, Japan and the US launched "The List" - a ranking of 1,000 global restaurants, using complex algorithms to synthesize and analyze data from more than 400 international sources, promising to provide a more comprehensive and objective view./.
