Professor Tommy Smith, head of jazz at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland for 16 years, has been suspended from teaching after the board received a complaint about his personal life.

Following an internal investigation, the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland has formally terminated Mr Smith's employment.
“Following an investigation and a meeting on internal disciplinary issues, Mr. Tommy Smith has been dismissed. The school has strict regulations to ensure that students and staff have the best conditions to study and work,” a school spokesperson confirmed.
Professor Smith (58 years old) is a famous saxophone artist in the UK. He has released 30 solo albums and has his own record label.
Tommy Smith is considered an inspiration to many generations of young musicians. He has toured many countries around the world and is a very influential figure in the jazz world in the UK.
An inside source revealed that Mr. Smith and a female student who was of legal age were in a relationship, but this still violated school policy.

Mr. Smith began playing the saxophone at the age of 12 and was recognized as a musical prodigy in Scotland. At the age of 16, he won a full scholarship to Berklee College of Music (USA).
The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland is one of the most prestigious arts academies in the world. Mr. Tommy Smith has not yet made an official response to the incident.
