On the morning of May 8, Arsenal lost 1-2 to PSG in the second leg of the 2024-2025 Champions League semi-final. This result caused them to be eliminated from the Champions League with a total score of 1-3 after 2 matches.

The Gunners entered the second leg at the Parc des Princes in Paris with the task of turning the tables after losing 0-1 in the first leg.

However, they were left to rue a series of missed opportunities early on, before Fabian Ruiz scored to give the French giants a two-goal lead after two legs.

They then let Achraf Hakimi score another goal before Bukayo Saka got a goal to reduce the score to 1-2. But that was all the Premier League representative could do.

Being eliminated from the Champions League means Arsenal will end the season empty-handed, having been eliminated from all domestic competitions and helplessly watching Liverpool win the Premier League.

After the match, “professor” Wenger, who led Arsenal for 22 years (1996-2018) and was the last coach to bring the Premier League title to the North London team, admitted that he was very impressed with PSG when giving his opinion on the match.

"I have to say that tonight we saw a different PSG," the French coach told beIN Sports.

"They don't play possession football and they don't play fancy football, they rely on not conceding goals, using counter-attacks and set-pieces. That's what brought them success tonight.

I think PSG are also very strong mentally. Even when they missed a penalty, they still held the game.

Speaking about his former team, Mr. Wenger pointed out the key problem: "On the other hand, we see Arsenal repeating the problem of not being able to score goals."

Arsenal's only goal in the two legs came after PSG captain Marquinhos went down too easily in a challenge with substitute Leandro Trossard.

The referee and VAR both agreed that Trossard did not foul Marquinhos in the build-up to the goal, allowing the Belgian to break free and set up Saka to score in the box.

"I was surprised by Marquinhos' mistake for their goal. It could have cost PSG. And it did. He's not quite back to his level yet. So they had a bit of luck.

But overall, in both matches PSG played better than Arsenal, had more chances. Congratulations PSG".
