"Of course, the Japanese team has shown its class. They are at the top of the rankings, they are a very strong team. But we will also show our ability," coach Patrick Kluivert said before the final match of the third qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup between Indonesia and Japan on June 10.

On June 5, the Indonesian team caused a shock when they defeated the Chinese team in the 9th match, thereby officially winning a ticket to the 4th qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup one round early. Therefore, the match between the Indonesian team and Japan in the final match is just a formality as both teams have completed their goals.
However, coach Kluivert affirmed that he and his students have planned to prepare well for this match to thank the fans who have always followed and supported the team.
"We have a game plan but it's not easy for me to say at the moment. The most important thing is that the players know what they have to do. But we will go to Japan in a good mood and show our affection to the Indonesian fans on the pitch," coach Kluivert affirmed.
Meanwhile, Indonesian team captain Jay Idzes affirmed that he and his teammates will also try their best to achieve good results against Japan.
"We will focus on the last match because it is still important. Of course the whole team is happy to qualify for the next round, but as I said, Indonesia still has one more match and it is very important.
We will stop celebrating yesterday's victory and seriously train from today to prepare for the battle with the Japanese team," Idzes said.
