One of the key tasks of the Resolution of the 9th Congress of the Vietnam Youth Union is to develop the Project "Youth participation in preserving and promoting the cultural identity of the Vietnamese nation in the period of 2024-2029". The draft Project proposes organizing courses on cultural and artistic heritage; designing cultural experience programs in high schools; and promoting young entrepreneurs to participate in business models associated with preserving national culture.

Notably, the draft project not only organizes annual activities but also proposes to support the construction and renovation of at least 200 community houses in villages and hamlets; deploy 50 models to promote cultural identity in the new rural construction program; and develop about 50 typical tourist destinations in remote areas rich in cultural values.

Towards the set goals, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Youth Union is urgently seeking comments on the draft Project from experts, researchers, managers and outstanding young people. Many opinions propose clarifying the role of youth in preserving culture; promoting youth strength in conjunction with scientific and technological strengths; and building an effective coordination mechanism between organizations, agencies and the community.

According to Professor, Dr. Le Hong Ly, Chairman of the Vietnam Folklore Arts Association, first of all, it is necessary to equip young people with awareness of national culture so that they can participate effectively and proactively in preserving and promoting traditional culture based on a solid knowledge foundation. At the same time, it is necessary to increase the creation of conditions for young people to participate in restoring and reviving traditional occupations and traditional cuisine in each locality and, further, start-ups associated with regional cultural identity.

Vice Chairwoman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Ngo Thi Thanh Mai said that it is necessary to create bridges to support young people to return to their homeland through projects, programs, and exchange events both in person and online.

In the context of rapid changes in all aspects of society, traditional culture is also being greatly affected, especially when more and more people are dependent on technology. Preserving identity and culture should start from the youngest people, starting from the most daily activities.

Therefore, the Project "Youth participation in preserving and promoting Vietnamese national cultural identity in the period 2024-2029" needs to focus on helping young people have the right awareness of the importance of traditional values, thereby taking the right actions to preserve and promote traditional things.
