(Dan Tri) - Many young people in Ho Chi Minh City wore Ao Dai to the stations of Metro Line 1 to experience and take Tet photos on the last day of free operation.

Today (January 20) is the last day Metro Line 1 (Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien) operates free of charge to serve the people.

According to Dan Tri reporters, although it was the first day of the week, the number of passengers on Metro Line 1 was quite crowded from morning to afternoon. Metro Line 1 was officially put into operation from December 22, 2024. Accordingly, people will experience Metro Line 1 for free within 30 days (from December 22, 2024 to January 20, 2025).

Starting tomorrow (January 21), passengers taking Metro Line 1 must buy tickets at stations using flexible payment methods such as cash or bank cards.

Phan Thi Khanh Hung (23 years old, living in Bien Hoa City) experienced Metro Line 1 on the last day of free operation. "The train runs very smoothly, the space is spacious and airy. I parked my bike at Suoi Tien Bus Station and took the train to Ben Thanh in less than 20 minutes, it was really convenient," Khanh Hung shared.

Metro Line 1 passes through elevated stations so passengers can observe many famous symbols and structures of the city.

Many foreign tourists also took the opportunity to experience Metro Line 1 before the toll collection date.

With only a few days left until Lunar New Year, many young people are taking the opportunity to wear traditional ao dai to check-in at metro stations.

"We chose the metro station to take photos for Tet this year. This is one of the special buildings that bears the mark of the city where I live and study," Hong Van (in red shirt) shared.

Starting tomorrow (January 21), Metro Line 1 will officially charge passengers for train tickets. The listed train ticket price for passengers is 7,000 VND per trip, the highest is 20,000 VND (for passengers paying in cash). For passengers buying one-way tickets without using cash, the lowest ticket price is 6,000 VND and the highest is 19,000 VND. Customers buying a daily ticket is 40,000 VND, with no limit on the number of trips per day; a 3-day ticket is 90,000 VND, with no limit on the number of trips in 3 days. Regular passengers buying a monthly ticket is 300,000 VND, with no limit on the number of trips per month. The monthly ticket price for students is 150,000 VND. The above ticket price includes passenger insurance.

Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien Metro is the first metro line built and put into operation in Ho Chi Minh City with a length of 19.7km connecting the center of District 1 with the eastern area such as Binh Thanh and Thu Duc city. In the beginning, Metro Line 1 operates from 5am to 10pm every day, the first trip departs at 5am and the last trip departs at 10pm with 9 trains. Each train carries a maximum of 930 passengers (including 147 seats and 783 standing seats) with an interval of 8-12 minutes per trip, a total of 200 trips per day. Speed ​​110km/h (elevated section) and 80km/h (underground section).
