Help children develop a love for books.

The 2025 Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Festival, organized by the Nha Trang City Youth Union and Children's Council in collaboration with the Provincial Library, attracted a large number of children. More than just a celebration of reading culture, the program also provided children with vivid and engaging experiences, fostering a love of history and instilling national pride.

In the joyful atmosphere of celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of Southern Vietnam and the reunification of the country (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), the event opened up a rich reading space where students had the opportunity to access many meaningful books, especially works about the nation's history. One of the highlights of the event was the exchange and introduction of the photo book "Heroic Moments," which captures valuable images of the momentous historical moment of the nation: the complete liberation of Southern Vietnam. "Listening to the speaker recount the stories behind each photo in the book 'Heroic Moments,' I am even more impressed and grateful to the previous generation," shared Nguyen Minh Anh, a student from Le Thanh Ton High School.

At the festival, children also participated in a battlefield simulation game called "I am a Liberation Army soldier." Dressed in soldier uniforms, they engaged in creative and engaging simulation activities, including: overcoming obstacles while carrying ammunition; crawling through underground tunnels; bandaging a comrade's wounds; and entering the Independence Palace... This sparked their interest and patriotism. Pham Thao Anh, a student from Thai Nguyen Secondary School, said: "Hearing about books on the liberation of the South and the reunification of the country, and experiencing the simulated battle game, I feel much more love for my country. The experiential activities help us remember the knowledge from books more deeply and for longer."

According to Mr. Chu Minh Phuong, Secretary of the Nha Trang City Youth Union, in the current context of rapid technological development, maintaining and spreading the habit of reading is an important task. Books are not only a source of knowledge but also a place to nurture the soul and character of children. Therefore, to encourage and create enjoyment for young people, this year, the organizing committee has combined book introductions with practical experiential activities to help the younger generation access history and culture in a deeper and more inspiring way.

Based on observations from the activities, it can be seen that when combined with hands-on experiences, reading books and learning history is no longer dry and boring but becomes more engaging and lively, contributing to fostering love for the homeland and country in the future generations of the nation. "Previously, in activities such as camps, training sessions for troop leaders, and large-scale games, the City Youth Union and City Children's Council regularly incorporated experiential activities linked to historical knowledge and events to increase attractiveness and educational value . This is the first time these experiential activities have been combined with a book festival. In the future, we will continue to promote the effectiveness of this model, thereby helping to bring reading culture closer to students through creative and lively forms such as dramatizing works, simulating history, interacting with authors and experts… From there, we will contribute to building a generation of young people who love books, understand history, and know how to appreciate and preserve the cultural values of the nation," said Mr. Phuong.
