
According to Deputy Head of the Management Board of Export Processing Zones and Industrial Parks of Can Tho City Doan Thanh Vu, Tan Phu Thanh Industrial Park Phase 1 has a planned area of 200.85 hectares; of which, the cleared area is 99.43 hectares, the land use right certificate has been granted to investors for 79.34 hectares, infrastructure items and existing enterprises are 20.09 hectares. Currently, the remaining area of the industrial park is about 100.1 hectares and is in the clearance stage; of which 593 households have handed over the site with 78.28 hectares, the remaining 214 households with an area of 23.14 hectares are stuck with site clearance.
Mr. Doan Thanh Vu said that the Board has proposed to the Can Tho City Land Fund Development Center to speed up the procedures for clearing the remaining area of the industrial park (about 23 hectares). At the same time, the People's Committee of Thanh Xuan commune needs to approve the compensation price for the people and manage the area of land that has been cleared but not yet handed over to the investor.
At the meeting, delegates pointed out many difficulties in site clearance and solutions to ensure site clearance is completed in accordance with regulations and on schedule.
Mr. Le Van Thanh, Deputy Director of the Can Tho City Land Fund Development Center, said that the center is currently coordinating with departments, branches and local authorities to handle 10 issues in the coming time. The center has classified the remaining tasks and has solutions to handle each specific case to ensure the set progress and in accordance with legal regulations.
At the meeting, Vice Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee Nguyen Van Hoa emphasized: Tan Phu Thanh Industrial Park Phase 1 is one of the large industrial parks, with many enterprises participating in investment in production in Can Tho City. Therefore, the clearance of the remaining area of the industrial park is very necessary to create favorable conditions for investors in the city.

The Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee requested relevant departments and branches to summarize the difficulties and obstacles and coordinate with the People's Committee of Thanh Xuan commune and investors to resolve the difficulties. The functional branches coordinate with local authorities to establish teams to strengthen propaganda and mobilize people to create consensus among people to hand over the site for the project, completely resolve the site clearance and disbursement of investment capital in December 2025.
According to Mr. Nguyen Van Hoa, the city's land fund development center urgently implements solutions in site clearance, pays attention to compensation, and supports resettlement for affected households in accordance with legal regulations. Along with that, the City's Export Processing Zone and Industrial Park Management Board works specifically on each investment project in Tan Phu Thanh Industrial Park, handles and resolves difficulties for businesses investing in the project in accordance with legal regulations.
The leader of the Can Tho City People's Committee also said that Can Tho is located in the center of the Mekong Delta, playing the role of an important traffic hub by road, waterway and air for the whole region. Promoting the existing potential and advantages, the city government will develop preferential investment policies and improve the business environment, "removing obstacles" in export processing zones and industrial parks to give businesses peace of mind to invest. Thereby attracting more secondary investors to industrial parks and clusters, contributing to making the city the development center of the whole Mekong Delta region.
According to the report of the Department of Industry and Trade of Can Tho city, the plan for developing industrial clusters for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, has been approved by the Prime Minister and integrated into the development planning of 37 industrial clusters with a total area of 2,191.23 hectares. Up to now, 10 industrial clusters have been established with a total area of 541.65 hectares and are considering selecting investors for 5 industrial clusters with an area of 274 hectares, the remaining 22 industrial clusters with an area of 1,375.58 hectares are in the investment calling stage.
Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Can Tho City Tran Minh Kiet informed that currently in the city, there are 7 industrial clusters that have come into operation and received 49 projects from secondary investors with a total investment capital of 8,480 billion VND, creating jobs for more than 9,000 workers. The occupancy rate of the leased industrial clusters reached 59.36%.
