Focus on removing difficulties for 4 key projects in Can Tho

On October 6, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee Dong Van Thanh had a working session with members of the Working Group directing the implementation of key projects in the city (Working Group No. 1) to direct the removal of difficulties affecting the progress of 4 key projects.

According to Mr. Vuong Thanh Nam, Deputy Director of the Department of Finance of Can Tho City, Working Group No. 1 under Steering Committee 66 monitors and resolves difficulties for projects including: Tran De Port Investment Project, Dai Ngai Bridge Construction Project on National Highway 60, Dai Ngai Industrial Park Infrastructure Investment and Business Project, My Thanh Industrial Park Infrastructure Investment and Construction Project.

Mr. Vuong Thanh Nam said that 3 out of 4 projects are carrying out legal procedures such as planning, feasibility study report, calling for investment; at the same time, the functional departments and branches continue to complete the procedures.

Regarding the problems related to resettlement support and site clearance, Mr. Vuong Thanh Nam said that he currently proposes assigning the investor to preside over and coordinate with relevant departments, branches and People's Committees of communes and wards to conduct surveys and count the number of affected households, develop resettlement plans or propose investment in building concentrated resettlement areas.

Deputy Director of the Department of Construction of Can Tho City Nguyen Minh Hoang added that for the Dai Ngai Bridge construction project on National Highway 60, Dai Ngai 2 Bridge is basically completed, and Dai Ngai 1 Bridge is being vigorously deployed by the investor to ensure completion on schedule.

Currently, the section connecting from the foot of Dai Ngai 2 bridge (in Dai Ngai commune) to National Highway 60 is being constructed, and at the same time, site clearance is being carried out. The representative of the Department of Construction also requested that the Can Tho City Land Fund Development Center and the People's Committees of Dai Ngai and Tan Thanh communes where the project passes through urgently speed up compensation and resettlement support for the section of National Highway 60 connecting from Dai Ngai 2 bridge to Soc Trang ward under the Dai Ngai Bridge Construction Investment Project on National Highway 60.

At the meeting, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee Dong Van Thanh, together with the city's departments and branches, resolved difficulties for each project. Standing Deputy Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee affirmed that these projects, which will be implemented in the coming time, will greatly contribute to the implementation of the Resolution of the City Party Congress for the 2025-2030 term, making Can Tho an economic center of the Mekong Delta region.

The leaders of the Can Tho City Party Committee also requested that the departments and branches that are members of the working group, based on their functions and tasks, promptly resolve difficulties of each project and speed up legal procedures. In particular, regarding the issue of site clearance, the functional branches need to urgently implement to ensure that households affected by the project have conditions for resettlement support in accordance with legal regulations. Members of the working group should increase field visits to closely assess the progress of the projects and promptly detect difficulties.
