Youth volunteers and local people support the demolition of old houses for poor households in Son Dien commune.
The Standing Committee of the District Youth Union has called on grassroots youth units to simultaneously deploy and establish volunteer teams and groups to support households with housing difficulties. Focus on establishing volunteer teams and groups in villages and hamlets with households eligible for housing construction under Directive 22.
The old house of Mrs. Pham Thi Hoa's family in Na Nghiu village, Son Dien commune, was recently demolished by many young people of the commune, in time to hand over the land for the construction of a new house. Up to now, thanks to the help of the government, the support of relatives and the contribution of young people, the house is entering the completion stage.
Ms. Hoa emotionally said: “My family is near-poor, and I am raising a mentally ill child alone, so when the local government supported me to build a new house, I was so happy, my dream of having a decent home became a reality. My family is short of people, so fortunately, young people came to help with dismantling, transporting materials, helping to speed up the construction progress.”
Member of the Na Nghiu Village Youth Union, Luong Van Dung, shared: “Since the beginning of March, the Na Nghiu Village Youth Union has mobilized 15 young people to join the team to support poor families in removing temporary and dilapidated houses with tasks such as supporting families in dismantling old houses, building temporary shelters, transporting sand, gravel, cement, digging foundations... Up to now, the young people have supported 6 families to start building houses.”
The family of Mrs. Vi Thi Thach in Xay village, Trung Ha commune is a poor household with extremely difficult circumstances. Her family has 6 members, of which Mrs. Thach suffered a stroke and has been bedridden for 11 years. The family also adopted a daughter with a congenital disability. The dream of a solid house has always been in the hearts of each member for many years.
"From now on, the whole family will no longer have to worry about living in a cramped house because there will soon be a new house. The family has sick elderly people and many children, so living in a new house will be very secure, especially when it rains and is windy. We are very grateful for the attention of our superiors and neighbors who have made our mother and family's lifelong dream come true," Ms. Vi Thi Vu, Ms. Thach's daughter, emotionally said.
It is known that the Xay Village Youth Union has established a volunteer team with the participation of 16 members, divided into 2 teams. The volunteer teams proactively contact the families, then organize teams to take turns contributing working days to support the implementation of the tasks. Since March, the Xay Village Youth Union has supported 5 households.
“The young people are very enthusiastic in participating with a spirit of enthusiasm and sharing, even female members volunteered to join the team. Each person contributes a little effort to help the poor people have a new, spacious and cozy house, there is nothing more meaningful. We are proud to have contributed our efforts to help the poor families, contributing to the development of our homeland”, said Ha Van Binh, a member of the Xay village Youth Union, Trung Ha commune, excitedly.
The movement of young people joining hands to support the construction of houses for poor households, policy households, and households with housing difficulties has spread widely throughout the district. Up to now, the Quan Son district Youth Union at all levels has established 12 volunteer teams, 80 volunteer teams with over 680 members and young people participating in supporting and assisting in the construction of 114 houses. Young people coordinate with other political organizations such as farmers', women's, and veterans' associations in villages to support households in building houses with practical activities such as clearing, digging foundations, transporting materials, and participating in basic construction such as building, plastering, and tiling... The attention of the government and society, along with the solidarity of the people, has contributed to building warm and loving houses for the disadvantaged.
Secretary of the District Youth Union, Chairman of the Youth Union of Quan Son District, Luong Van Phuc said: “Through each project and each task, Quan Son youth have been and will continue to affirm their role as a pioneering force, always accompanying the Party Committee and the government in taking care of people's lives. These activities are always attended by a large number of union members and youth and supported by the people. Each spacious house is not only a place to shelter from the rain and sun, but also a symbol of sharing, bringing joy and hope for the future to the people.”
