Manchester City's omission from the FIFA Club World Cup squad is not only a blow to Grealish's place in Pep Guardiola's squad, but also raises questions about his role at the Etihad - where he spent £100m to bring the player from Aston Villa.
As Man City look to offload or loan the English winger, Napoli have emerged as a potential destination. The Naples club have been closely monitoring Grealish during the winter transfer window. Manager Antonio Conte also highly values the former Aston Villa star's playing style and top-level experience.
But Napoli are also very clear: they are not willing to "burn money" for a salary of 300,000 pounds/week - the number Grealish is receiving at Man City.
In fact, the high salary is a major barrier that makes many clubs, both in and outside England, hesitant. Man City are said to be willing to support a portion of Grealish's income - possibly up to 50% - if they want to push him out on loan.
But even so, this is still a deal that requires careful financial calculation, especially for clubs that are not in the "super-rich" group.

At the moment, the most likely scenario is a season-long loan deal with an option to buy, which would allow Grealish to restart his career at a new club while giving City more time to find a long-term outlet.
From a record signing, Grealish is gradually becoming a “financial problem” for Man City. And to be reborn, he needs the right environment - not somewhere else, but a place that allows him to play, shine and... silently respond with performance. Naples could be that place, if everything is right.
