Specifically, 5 projects transferred from the 2016-2020 period will upgrade, build and expand 5 hospitals: Thuong Tin District General Hospital; Hanoi Children's Hospital Phase I; Ha Dong General Hospital; Ba Vi District General Hospital and Son Tay General Hospital.
7 projects have been approved for investment, including: Upgrading Hanoi Mental Hospital and Hanoi Oncology Hospital; building Hanoi Heart Hospital, Facility 2, Hanoi Forensic Center and Hoe Nhai General Hospital; and renovating and upgrading the medical gas system and medical liquid waste treatment system at hospitals under the Hanoi Department of Health.

Director of Hanoi Department of Health Tran Thi Nhi Ha said that to meet the health care needs of the people, the city strives to reach 30-35 hospital beds per 10,000 people by 2025. If the minimum figure is 30 hospital beds per 10,000 people, Hanoi needs to add 4,204 hospital beds.
At the meeting, delegates said that the investment projects to renovate, upgrade and build new hospitals mentioned above will help increase the number of hospital beds, helping the capital's health sector to better perform the work of caring for and protecting people's health.
However, during the implementation, the projects also encountered some difficulties and problems such as site clearance; implementation of medical equipment procurement packages; how to relocate medical examination and treatment facilities for upgrading while still ensuring the maintenance of medical examination and treatment for people; organization of apparatus and personnel when put into operation...
Acknowledging and accepting the opinions raised at the meeting, Permanent Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Le Hong Son requested the Hanoi Civil Construction Investment Project Management Board, the city's Department of Health, and hospitals to coordinate with relevant units to be more proactive in removing difficulties and obstacles to speed up the implementation of projects, especially key projects such as: Hanoi Children's Hospital, Hanoi Heart Hospital, Branch 2, Kidney Hospital, Branch 2, etc.
Mr. Le Hong Son also emphasized the need to improve some areas that are strengths of hospitals under the Hanoi Health Department such as: Cardiovascular, kidney... From there, build these facilities into medical examination and treatment centers on par with the region and the world so that people do not have to go abroad for medical treatment.
Also at the meeting, Mr. Le Hong Son suggested that during the implementation process, units facing difficulties, especially in site clearance, should send their recommendations directly to the Hanoi Department of Planning and Investment. This unit will be responsible for synthesizing opinions and sending them to the City People's Committee to jointly propose solutions.
