Hanoi introduces Ca Tru and Giong Festival at Hung Temple Festival

Hanoi artisans will perform Ca Tru and the best excerpts from the Giong Festival at the Hung Kings Temple Festival in 2023.

The procession of offerings to Saint Giong at Soc Temple will be recreated within the framework of the Hung Temple Festival.

Within the framework of the Hung Temple Festival 2023, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism coordinated with the People's Committee of Phu Tho province to organize a festival to display Vietnam's intangible cultural heritages recognized by UNESCO.

The festival takes place from April 21 to 24, with the participation of many provinces and cities with UNESCO-recognized heritages such as: Hanoi, Bac Ninh , Tuyen Quang, Yen Bai, Vinh Phuc, Phu Tho, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Thua Thien Hue, Quang Nam, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Ninh Thuan, Dak Lak...

Participating in this event, Hanoi introduced two intangible cultural heritages of Hanoi recognized by UNESCO: Ca Tru performance art, Giong festival at Phu Dong temple and Soc temple.

For ca tru, the city selected two traditional guilds: Thai Ha ca tru guild (Tay Ho district) and Lo Khe ca tru guild (Dong Anh district) to perform the most unique ca tru performances.

For the Gióng Festival, the artists will perform the best excerpts of the festival. Specifically, on April 23, excerpts of the Gióng Festival will be performed at Phù Đổng Temple (Gia Lâm District) with performances: Ai Lao dance and singing, performances by flag bearers, drum bearers, female generals and the preparation of the feast for the soldiers.

Meanwhile, the procession of 7 offerings in the Gióng Festival at Sóc Temple (Sóc Sơn District) will be selected to introduce to people everywhere attending the festival.

Along with that, during the festival, Hanoi organized a space to display and introduce images, artifacts, and documents of Hanoi's intangible cultural heritage recognized by UNESCO, in order to contribute to honoring and spreading the typical cultural values ​​in the heritages that have been and are being carefully preserved by Hanoi...

Also on this occasion, Hanoi city brought to the Hung Temple Festival a booth displaying and introducing the city's most outstanding OCOP products; a booth introducing the capital's tourism potential and organizing a delegation to offer offerings to the Hung Kings.
