Ha Tinh: Defense Command of Region 3 - Ky Anh organizes evacuation of people in flooded areas

On the morning of October 31, in the face of prolonged heavy rain causing floodwaters to rise, the Defense Command of Region 3 - Ky Anh, the Military Command of Ha Tinh province urgently mobilized and coordinated with local authorities to evacuate households in the residential groups of Canh Truong, Truong Phu and Truong Yen, Vung Ang ward, which were deeply flooded, to a safe place.

In the aforementioned areas, heavy rains caused flooding with water levels ranging from 1 to 1.5 meters, cutting off many roads and endangering people's lives and property. Military forces used canoes, rafts, and mobile vehicles to evacuate the elderly, children, and essential belongings to safety; they also set up checkpoints and guided people away from deep water and strong currents.

Hundreds of residents of the flooded Vung Ang ward were transported to safety by soldiers using boats across the floodwaters.

Comrade Ho Sy Hung, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Vung Ang Ward, said: "In our ward, there are 3 residential areas that are deeply and severely flooded, and many landslide areas. Yesterday, the ward mobilized local forces to evacuate 300 people from vulnerable, heavily flooded areas to safety. However, this morning the floodwaters continued to rise rapidly and higher, so we mobilized forces to continue evacuating the remaining households, ensuring the safety of people and property."

Lieutenant Colonel Bui Van Tuan, Commander of the Defense Command of Zone 3 - Ky Anh, said: "This morning, we deployed 100 officers and staff to coordinate with 50 Border Guard soldiers, 220 militia soldiers, and vehicles to help people evacuate to safe places."

Currently, the relocation work is being carried out urgently. The Command of Defense Zone 3 - Ky Anh, the Border Guard and militia in the area continue to maintain a standby force, ready to respond to the complex developments of rain and floods, ensuring the safety of people's lives and property.
