Ha Tinh has not discovered any fake eggs, consumers should not be too panicked.

A representative of the Vietnam Poultry Association confirmed that the unit has just sent a document to relevant ministries and branches requesting to handle false rumors about fake chicken eggs. The document stated that recently, some social networking sites have spread false information about the production of fake chicken eggs in our country, causing confusion and anxiety among consumers and negatively affecting the production and business of poultry eggs.

The Vietnam Poultry Association affirms that, up to this point, there is no scientific evidence of the production of fake eggs with characteristics similar to natural chicken eggs. At the same time, it recommends that the authorities investigate, verify and strictly handle those who have spread false information about fake chicken eggs.

Faced with false rumors, many egg traders and egg-laying chicken farm owners in Ha Tinh are feeling worried as consumers are uneasy about the rumors.

As a trader specializing in selling eggs for more than 30 years, Ms. Tran Thi Hong (born in 1967, a trader at Ha Tinh City Market) is very upset when there is information related to fake chicken eggs but without basis. With many years of experience, she believes that it is very difficult to fake chicken eggs.

Having sold all kinds of eggs for over 30 years, Ms. Tran Thi Hong has never seen fake eggs.

“Since the beginning of May, my egg business has decreased by 30% - 40%, sometimes only selling a dozen eggs. Although I have had a good reputation for many years and have a clear source of imported eggs, the spread of information about fake eggs has caused many people to not choose this food,” Ms. Hong shared.

According to a survey, egg prices at Ha Tinh City market and other traditional markets range from 20,000 to 25,000 VND/dozen for industrial chicken eggs and from 30,000 to 45,000 VND/dozen for local chicken eggs. In addition to chicken eggs, quail eggs, duck eggs, etc. have also been affected, with purchasing power decreasing significantly recently.

Ms. Truong Thi Hang (born in 1984, a trader at Ha Tinh City Market) said: “The production of chicken eggs in Ha Tinh in particular and the whole country in general is very large, traders like us have never seen a shortage of chicken eggs. The large production makes the price of chicken eggs and duck eggs quite cheap, people with low incomes can still buy eggs to eat every day. Therefore, it is hard to believe that chicken eggs are counterfeited.”

Truong Thi Hang's egg stall saw a significant drop in revenue after the rumor.

Fearing counterfeit goods, many Ha Tinh consumers are hesitant to use products related to chicken eggs. Especially when videos and clips about fake eggs spread widely, creating a crowd effect, many people will share the same fear of health effects.

“My family loves eating eggs, especially fried eggs. However, with the news that eggs can be faked, my family is confused and has stopped using this food in meals. Recently, milk, medicine, fish sauce and bean sprouts have also been faked and soaked in chemicals, so consumers are very sensitive,” said Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong (Thach Ha ward, Ha Tinh city).

Consumers are worried, small traders selling chicken eggs are sluggish, making the market for buying and selling this food gloomy. In addition, egg-laying chicken farm owners are also worried, many farm owners really hope that the authorities will investigate, verify and strictly handle the subjects who spread false information about fake chicken eggs.

“Trai Coc hill chicken eggs are currently priced from 4,000 - 4,500 VND/egg because of the natural production process and principles, ensuring quality, meeting nutritional requirements, and delicious flavor. The facility always has a stable number of regular customers, but with the current situation of false information, we are very worried if consumers lose confidence and turn their backs on chicken eggs” - Le Thi Nguyet - Tan Huong Chicken Breeding Cooperative (Duc Tho) said.

According to Mr. Le Tung Duong - Deputy Head of the Department of Rural Development and Quality Management (Department of Agriculture and Environment of Ha Tinh), the dissemination of information about fake chicken eggs on social networks is completely baseless and untrue. The Livestock Association has also issued an official document on this issue. In Ha Tinh province, through regular inspection and review, so far, no fake chicken eggs have been detected. Consumers are requested not to panic, worry and not to believe in false, unverified information.

"Recently, there have been many cases of fake milk, fake medicine, and tobacco products of unknown origin, so many people have taken advantage of this to spread false information to cause confusion, anxiety, and instability in society. We request that the authorities actively investigate and strictly handle individuals and organizations spreading false information. Regarding the department, although we have not detected any counterfeit production activities in the past, we will not be negligent but will continue to coordinate with the authorities and localities to strengthen inspection and strictly handle violations if they are detected," Mr. Le Tung Duong emphasized.
