Born and raised in the rural area of Duc Linh (Vu Quang) with many difficulties, teacher Kieu The Thanh (born in 1984), currently the head of the Physics - Chemistry - Biology group (Cu Huy Can High School), deeply understands the hardships that students in mountainous areas have to face. Since choosing the teaching profession, he has cherished a burning desire: "Every student must not only go to school but also study well".
With that in mind, in 2006, after graduating from Vinh University with a major in Physics Education, Mr. Thanh began his career as a "person-growing" teacher at Duc Tho High School. Here, in addition to regular teaching hours, he is always willing to organize free tutoring sessions, wholeheartedly supplementing students' knowledge.
In 2010, Mr. Thanh was transferred to Cu Huy Can High School. From that time on, he became an indispensable part, helping many generations of students here continue their dreams.
Mr. Thanh's free teaching does not stop at Physics, which he directly teaches, but also spreads and expands to other subjects in the school. From there, the "Free Graduation Exam Review" model of the Physics - Chemistry - Biology Group of Cu Huy Can High School was initiated and strongly developed. In particular, from 2020 to now, as the head of the professional group, he has made this model operate more and more effectively. Accordingly, each week, each subject will have an afternoon dedicated to free graduation exam review for grade 12 students.
This practical model has contributed to significantly improving the quality of graduation exam preparation for Physics, Chemistry, and Biology; improving the quality of teaching and learning in general, while strongly promoting emulation movements in the industry, especially the movement "Teach well, learn well".
Sharing about his special teacher, Nguyen Van Nam (class 12A1) proudly said: "What we appreciate most about Mr. Thanh is his unconditional dedication. In addition to regular classes, he still spends his precious time organizing free tutoring sessions in the afternoon. He not only teaches knowledge but also kindly asks, encourages, and gives us more faith and determination. We are truly grateful for the heart and silent sacrifice of Mr. Thanh, who has lit the fire of knowledge and dreams in every student."
In more than 10 years of implementing this meaningful model, the average scores of Physics, Chemistry, and Biology of Cu Huy Can High School have always been in the top 10 of the province, with 3 excellent years ranking 2nd in the province. Many students have passed the university entrance exam for their first choice, and many classes have even achieved a 100% university admission rate thanks to the direct guidance of teachers in the group.
Teacher Kieu The Thanh confided: "Growing up from hardship, I understand that only education can change the future. Students in mountainous areas suffer more disadvantages than those in other places. As a teacher, I do not simply teach but also give them confidence and help them continue their dreams. With my own teaching ability, I must constantly strive to impart knowledge and support them in their studies to create a solid foundation for the future."
"In the coming school years, the model of "Free Graduation Exam Review Teaching" will continue to operate every semester and every year. In addition, we are constantly looking for ways to improve and upgrade the organization, bringing the best results for students" - Mr. Thanh added.
Not only does he teach, Mr. Thanh always strives to improve his professional qualifications and has a Master's degree in Physics. For nearly 10 years, he has directly trained excellent students in the province (with 2 second prizes, 6 third prizes and 8 consolation prizes). In particular, he also directly guided students who won second prize at the national level in the "Applying interdisciplinary knowledge to solve practical problems" contest in 2016.
In the 2024-2025 school year, Mr. Thanh participated in the Provincial Excellent Teacher Competition and was honored to win the second prize at the provincial level in Physics. He is also one of the typical examples of studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality, and style awarded by the Vu Quang District Party Committee, and received many certificates of merit from the Central Youth Union, theEducation Trade Union...
Mr. Thanh is an excellent teacher of the school, not only has solid expertise but is also always full of enthusiasm for the profession.
