Reed Flute Cave, China. Located near the city of Guilin, the natural limestone Reed Flute Cave is illuminated from the inside, allowing visitors to admire the full splendor of its underground lake. There are paintings from the Tang Dynasty carved into the walls of the 239m long cave. The cave is named after the reeds that grow outside the cave, which are used by locals to make flutes.
Kow Ata Underground Lake in Bäkharden Cave, Turkmenistan. Located 60m underground, this underground lake is 71m long. Kow Ata Lake is rich in minerals and salts, and its high sulfur content gives it a distinctive scent.
