After more than 15 years of use, An Cu 5 apartment building (Phuoc My ward, Son Tra district, Da Nang city) has now seriously degraded. Many concrete blocks on the ceiling have peeled off and fallen down, causing fear for the residents living here.

According to the reporter's records, block A and B of An Cu 5 apartment complex (Phuoc My ward, Son Tra district) are seriously degraded. Currently, there are about more than 60 apartments put into use since 2007.

After many years of use, many rooms in this apartment building have become dilapidated.

Many peeling walls reveal rusty iron inside, and they also leak when it rains.

Mr. Nguyen Chien (owner of a 4th floor apartment) said that his family of 6 people is living in a leaky apartment, the bedroom walls are full of mold, and the ceiling has many peeling concrete patches that have just been temporarily patched.

“The slow inspection and repair of this apartment building makes me very afraid to live here. I am afraid that dangerous storms can strike at any time,” said Mr. Chien.

He hopes the apartment will be checked and repaired soon so that his family will have a safe place to live when the rainy season comes.

Many other households said that their families have applied for repairs many times but so far have not received any results. As a temporary solution, they are forced to buy cement to patch the cracks on the ceiling, to prevent water leakage from the upper floors.

Cracks appeared on the walls, the ceiling was leaking water, the electrical system was deteriorating.

Faced with the situation of two 4-storey buildings A and B with more than 100 households living in a state of disrepair, recently voters of Phuoc My ward expressed their opinions and requested the city to take measures to remedy and repair.

Regarding this issue, the Department of Construction of Da Nang City said that it has issued a decision to supplement the regular expenditure estimate for the first 6 months of 2024 for the Da Nang Housing Management and Exploitation Center with an amount of 5 billion VND to carry out maintenance of state-owned apartments in 2024.

Currently, the Danang Housing Management and Exploitation Center is carrying out procedures for apartment repair according to the policy approved by the City People's Committee.
