The Red River Festival - Vietnam - China Red River Basin Cooperation Week and the Vietnam - China Red River Basin Cooperation Dialogue 2025 are important activities to strengthen cooperation in many fields between localities of the two countries in the Red River basin.
Speaking at the event, Comrade Lo Van Huong - Provincial Party Committee member, Deputy Secretary of the Lai Chau Provincial Party Committee emphasized that Lai Chau has a strategic position with a border of more than 265 km adjacent to Yunnan province, a natural bridge between Vietnam and China. With a dense network of rivers and streams, large hydropower potential, rich mineral resources, temperate climate and large agricultural area, Lai Chau is strongly developing high-tech agriculture, medicinal plants, high-quality tea, macadamia and typical agricultural products of the northern mountainous region.
Affirming the province's advantages in developing border trade, when the Ma Lu Thang (Vietnam) - Kim Thuy Ha (China) border gate pair is increasingly promoting its role as a center for goods circulation between the two countries, the Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee proposed many important contents to deepen the cooperation relationship between Lai Chau and Hong Ha district, such as: Proposing the two sides to strengthen the effective implementation of existing cooperation mechanisms, while expanding new cooperation models suitable for practice. Coordinate to improve customs clearance efficiency, request the Chinese side to complete procedures so that the Ma Lu Thang - Kim Thuy Ha border gate can be upgraded to an international border gate, creating favorable conditions for people and goods to pass through. Expand the list of Vietnamese agricultural products that are allowed to be officially exported to China; support businesses of both sides for long-term and stable cooperation. He emphasized that Lai Chau province always attaches importance to and prioritizes developing friendly and cooperative relations with Hong Ha district and hopes that both sides will make more efforts to contribute to the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between Vietnam and China.
After the speeches of the provinces, the delegates performed the button-pressing ceremony to open the "Hong Ha Festival - China - Vietnam Cooperation Week in the Red River Basin 2025 and the Vietnam - China Red River Basin Cooperation Dialogue".
Immediately after the Opening Ceremony, the Lai Chau Provincial Delegation attended dialogue sessions and seminars on communication, trade and logistics, industrial zones, cultural exchanges and cultural product exhibitions. The delegates exchanged and shared experiences and proposed many practical cooperation directions.
