On May 20, Hanoi Metro Company Limited informed about the incident where water was leaking from the air conditioner of a metro train, forcing passengers to use umbrellas to cover themselves.

According to Hanoi Metro, at around 5:20 p.m. on May 19, on Line 2A Cat Linh - Ha Dong, water leaked from the air conditioning system in a passenger car on train number 01.

Immediately after receiving the information, the company directed the Cat Linh - Ha Dong Line 2A Operation Enterprise (Enterprise 2A) to arrange forces to discuss with passengers, promptly fix the scene, clean the train floor to continue serving passengers, then arrange the train to return to Phu Luong Depot for inspection and handling.

According to the initial inspection report of Enterprise 2A, the cause of the water flowing into the passenger compartment was due to a fault in the air conditioning control system of train 01, causing the air conditioning water to drain unstable, leading to water flowing under a passenger car.

People had to use umbrellas to cover themselves on the Cat Linh - Ha Dong metro train on the afternoon of May 19.

Factory 2A invited experts to coordinate with technical staff to urgently fix the problem on May 20.

To prevent similar situations from happening, Hanoi Metro directed Enterprise 2A to continue to invite experts and technical staff to review and re-examine technical systems, especially the entire air conditioning control system of trains on Line 2A so that trains put into operation on the line must ensure quality conditions and technical safety of operation.

According to Hanoi Metro, because the trains and technical equipment systems on the Cat Linh - Ha Dong line were manufactured and brought to Vietnam since 2017, the company is preparing a report to propose the City People's Committee to allow the Company to establish a project to renovate and train technical human resources for the trains and the operating equipment system on the Cat Linh - Ha Dong urban railway line to ensure stable and long-term technical safety conditions and environmental protection for the trains, while improving the quality of specialized human resources in maintaining and repairing trains and operating technical systems on the Cat Linh - Ha Dong line.

Hanoi Metro affirms that the phenomenon of water leaking from the air conditioner causing inconvenience and unhygienic conditions for passengers on a train car is a rare and unexpected incident. Hanoi Railway One Member Co., Ltd. apologizes and will fix the problem as soon as possible.

Previously, on the afternoon of May 19, many passengers on the Cat Linh - Ha Dong metro train reported that water was dripping from the metro train's air conditioner, forcing some people to use umbrellas to cover themselves.

A passenger said that around 5:45 - 5:50 p.m., when the train was moving from Cat Linh to Ha Dong, water started flowing from the ceiling. Many people were panicked and tried to avoid getting wet. Some passengers had to open their umbrellas right in the train car as if they were walking in the rain.
