"Red Journey" in Binh Thuan strives to achieve the target of receiving 1,200 units of blood

On June 21, in Phan Thiet city, Binh Thuan province, the Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation of Binh Thuan province coordinated with the Central Red Journey Organizing Committee and the Central Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion to organize the Red Journey Program "Binh Thuan Red Drops", honoring outstanding voluntary blood donors in 2024.

The Red Journey is a national voluntary blood donation campaign, with cross-country activities chaired by the National Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation. The 12th National Red Journey Program in 2024 with the message "Connecting Vietnamese Blood" will take place from June 2 to July 28, passing through 51 provinces/cities and is expected to receive 120,000 voluntary blood donations. This is the second year Binh Thuan has organized the Red Journey Program "Binh Thuan Red Drops", honoring outstanding voluntary blood donors and the Voluntary Blood Donation Festival.

It is known that the voluntary blood donation movement in Binh Thuan was officially launched in 1995. After nearly 30 years of implementation, the voluntary blood donation movement in Binh Thuan province has grown, the number of blood donors has continuously increased every year; many agencies and units have registered to donate blood regularly. There are families with many members participating in blood donation; many individuals have volunteered to donate blood from 10 to over 50 times, especially some have donated blood over 100 times. The average annual blood donation volume of the province is about 5,000 units of blood, basically meeting the needs of emergency and treatment for patients.

At the Program, Comrade Nguyen Minh, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation in Binh Thuan Province called on sectors, levels, localities, agencies, units, families and individuals to continue to actively register for voluntary blood donation and mobilize many people to participate in blood donation; diversify propaganda activities to spread the act of donating blood to save lives...

At the program, the People's Committee of Binh Thuan province and the Binh Thuan Provincial Red Cross Association awarded 34 collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in voluntary blood donation; honored 219 typical families and voluntary blood donors...

On this occasion, more than 250 people participated in voluntary blood donation. It is expected that during the period of responding to the Red Journey Program from June to July 2024, Binh Thuan province will strive to receive 1,200 units of blood./.
