Ho Chi Minh City Development Joint Stock Commercial Bank - HDBank (HDB) has just notified the Securities Commission and HoSE about the transaction under the approval authority of the Board of Directors (BOD).

Specifically, HDBank said that the bank's Board of Directors has just officially approved the policy and plan to sell the number of shares it owns in Vietjet Aviation Joint Stock Company - Vietjet Air (VJC).

This bank has not attached details of the capital sale plan, but clearly stated that it will assign and authorize the general director to implement and decide on issues arising during the implementation process in accordance with legal regulations and HDBank.

According to Vietjet's management report for the first 6 months of 2025, HDBank owns 6 million VJC shares, equivalent to 1.01% of the airline's capital.

Immediately after the above divestment information appeared, Vietjet Air's VJC shares dropped to the floor price of 193,300 VND/share in this morning's session (November 27).

At this price, HDBank can earn about 1,160 billion VND in the scenario of selling all the shares it holds. With a smaller number of transactions, the corresponding value will also decrease.

Notably, HDBank's divestment took place in the context of VJC having just experienced a strong increase and set a new peak at VND219,100/share, before facing adjustment pressure in today's session.

This is not the first time HDBank has divested. In 2023, HDBank also divested from Vietjet Air to follow the roadmap of reducing non-core investments.

Currently, the Chairwoman of Vietjet Air is billionaire Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao. Ms. Thao holds 8.02% of the airline's capital, equivalent to more than 47.47 million shares. At the same time, Ms. Thao is also the Vice Chairwoman of HDBank.

Regarding business situation, Vietjet Air said that consolidated revenue in the first 9 months of 2025 reached 52,769 billion VND, profit 2,051 billion VND, up 17%.

Of which, ancillary revenue alone reached 6,893 billion VND, accounting for 41% of total transportation revenue, up 19% over the same period.

The company also contributed more than VND7,342 billion in direct and indirect taxes and fees in the first nine months of 2025. In addition, the Board of Directors approved a plan to pay a 20% dividend in shares, equivalent to issuing more than 118.3 million shares, with a total par value of more than VND1,183 billion.
