On November 14, the People's Committee of Ia Ly town (Chu Pah district, Gia Lai province) coordinated with the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Chu Pah district to organize an inspection and take samples to clarify the cause of the death of pigs given to poor and near-poor households in the town.

It is known that implementing projects under the National Target Program, in October, Ia Ly town provided 100 breeding pigs for free to 18 households in Mun and Van villages (Ia Ly town). The beneficiaries are poor and near-poor households with 5-6 pigs each. The pigs provided are meat pigs, each weighing 15kg, priced at 150,000 VND/kg.
About 7 days after receiving the pigs, they started to die. So far, according to statistics, 52 pigs from 18 households have died. Of which, the household with the most pigs died 6 pigs.
According to Mr. Ro Cham Hoa, Vice Chairman of the Town People's Committee, before granting the license, the locality allowed people to go directly to the breeding farm to choose pigs and the farm owner brought the pigs to their homes to instruct them on how to care for them. The reason for the pig deaths could be that this was the first time people raised pigs for meat, so they did not have experience in caring for them; the pig feed was not guaranteed; at times, storms and rains made the pigs cold, leading to their death.
Initially, Ia Ly town proposed a solution that members of the steering committee for the implementation of the national target program, such as the Chairman of the town People's Committee, Vice Chairman and some officials, would use their personal money to support half of the cost to help households with dead pigs buy back breeding pigs for breeding.
