On the afternoon of August 15, Tan Son Nhi Ward Police, Ho Chi Minh City, were still blocking off the scene of the glass pressing furnace explosion of Ngoc Han Colored Glass Company Ltd. on Duong Van Duong Street to coordinate with functional units to investigate and determine the cause.

The two ends of Duong Van Duong Street were cordoned off by the crime prevention and security team. The wall collapsed, crushing the cars inside. The factory roof was torn off and scattered everywhere.

Opposite the glass factory, at least three houses collapsed. Many people living in these houses have moved out, finding temporary shelter with relatives or neighbors. No one has been allowed inside the scene to retrieve their belongings because the remaining walls could collapse at any time.

According to records, the area of the factory where the glass pressing furnace exploded covered an area of hundreds of square meters, the corrugated iron roof was blown up by the pressure after the explosion, and the rolling doors were damaged. Inside, many small trucks (the type used to transport glass) were covered with dust and broken glass.
At the time of the explosion, the scene was only blocked off near the collapsed houses, but later, authorities had to block off the entire road.

Many workers of the company gathered in the surrounding houses after the explosion, all with only the clothes on their backs. They said that some workers were injured by glass fragments and the force of the explosion and were taken to the hospital for treatment, these people are stable.
Mr. T., a resident living near the scene of the explosion, said that the explosion was so loud and the force of the explosion caused cracks in the walls of his house. His entire family woke up from their sleep and ran outside. Luckily, his house did not collapse.
Although her house was dozens of meters away from the scene, Ms. H. still felt the vibrations after the explosion. “I heard the sound of broken glass and the metal roof flying off. When I arrived at the scene, there was a lot of dust. Many rescuers were present and climbed up the rubble to search for people trapped. Luckily, no one was trapped in the rubble!", Ms. H. said.
The ward People's Committee has initially visited people living in collapsed and damaged houses. The cause and damage after the explosion are still being investigated and clarified by the authorities.
As reported by CAND Newspaper, at around 1am the same day, the explosion occurred at the above company, affecting 4 houses. Some people inside the houses were slightly injured. The Fire Police and Rescue Team KV3 (Fire Police and Rescue Department, Ho Chi Minh City Police) with 3 specialized fire trucks and 18 officers and soldiers approached the scene to search for trapped people, however, no one was trapped inside the explosion.
