A scene from the movie Red Rain. |
Red rain - blood and bones fall, the land and sky leave their names
Red Rain is the name of a film about the revolutionary war produced by the People's Army Cinema that has been eagerly awaited by the public in recent days. With a script by writer Chu Lai, directed by Meritorious Artist Dang Thai Huyen, inspired and fictionalized from the event of 81 days and nights of heroic fighting to protect Quang Tri Citadel in the fiery summer of 1972 - one of the fiercest battles of the 20th century, Red Rain deeply recreates the silent sacrifice and noble ideals of generations of young people in the resistance war against America to save the country.
When the movie trailer was released, many audiences, especially young people, expressed their emotions and pride on social networks. Many people shed tears when witnessing the fierceness of the war, the burning aspirations, the comradeship, and especially the sacrifices. The Citadel battlefield appeared as historical slices that were both heroic and tragic, the spaces that were both realistic and emotional. That was the image of a mother choking up to see her child off to battle, the soldiers drowning in the Thach Han River in the pouring rain of bombs, the dark faces, the tears, the screams when another comrade fell, and the laughter, the singing, the rare peaceful images in the middle of the battlefield...
Following the works on the theme of revolutionary war that have been invested in elaborately and exploded at the box office in recent times, Red Rain is like an epic song inspiring patriotism, fighting spirit and the desire for peace of the Vietnamese people. In particular, the soundtrack song What is more beautiful performed by actor and musician "gen Z" Nguyen Hung has become "viral" on many social networking platforms with profound, bright and humane lyrics, contributing to bringing the film closer to young audiences. Listeners seem to live with the proud, heart-wrenching but also peaceful emotions of the young soldier who has always been and is always ready to die for the Fatherland: "Mom, cheer up, you have a heroic son", "Bringing youth to sow freedom for the country/For me, that's all, what could be more beautiful?"...
Red Rain is scheduled to premiere on August 22, 2025 at cinemas nationwide, on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2.
“Watching the soundtrack of Red Rain on TikTok, I couldn’t help but be moved. I will definitely invite my friends to go to the cinema to watch the movie to better understand, appreciate and be proud of the generation of young people with noble ideals who are ready to sacrifice so that today the country can rise up” - Pham Minh Anh, a student at Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics shared.
