The effectiveness of the emulation movement "Old age is a shining example"

Implementing the patriotic emulation movement "Elderly age, bright example" in the period of 2021 - 2025, the Elderly Associations at all levels in the district have proactively developed implementation plans, close to the practical situation of each locality. Focusing on propaganda work, building a strong association organization associated with implementing Directive No. 05 of the Politburo on promoting the study and following of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and lifestyle.

Thereby, the pioneering and exemplary role of the elderly has been promoted in various fields of activities and movements such as: "All people unite to build a cultural life in residential areas", "Building new rural areas - civilized urban areas", "Elderly people are good at production and business, helping each other to eliminate hunger and reduce poverty", "Elderly people participate in building the grassroots political system", "encouraging learning and talent"...

Currently, the district has 278 elderly people participating in Party and government work, currently holding the following positions: secretary, deputy secretary of the Party cell, head of residential group, head and deputy head of villages, hamlets, residential groups, village elders and socio-political organizations. Over 65% of elderly people are directly participating in production and business; of which more than 300 elderly people are good at economics , 16 elderly people are farm owners and business owners.

The Association of the Elderly of Krong Nang district, Cu M'gar district and Buon Ma Thuot city are three typical collectives in the emulation movement "Elderly, shining example" awarded certificates of merit by the Provincial People's Committee.

Implementing the program "Elderly people join hands to build new rural areas", 1,664 elderly people have mobilized to donate over 20,102 m2 of land, contributed more than 4,000 working days and hundreds of millions of VND to build rural infrastructure. In addition, elderly people's association members in the district also actively participate in the movements "Protecting national security" and "Preventing and combating drug crimes". The whole district has 1,736 elderly people who regularly coordinate with forces to ensure security and order at the grassroots level; providing important sources of information for the police force to serve the investigation work, contributing to maintaining social order and safety. The work of encouraging learning and talent has also received attention from the Elderly Association at all levels. Up to now, the whole district has 2,208 elderly people participating in the learning encouragement associations. Every year, 6,275 elderly people are awarded the title of "Old age, shining example" and 7,023 member families are considered to meet the standards of "Cultural family".

The Elderly Associations at all levels in Krong Nang district also focus on organizing, establishing and maintaining club models. Currently, the district has established 44 health care - folk dance clubs, attracting over 1,048 members to practice; 18 new intergenerational self-help clubs have been established with 904 members participating, the amount of income increase fund of the clubs contributed by members is over 1.27 billion VND, thereby lending to 131 members to develop production and business.

The work of caring for the elderly, especially those in difficult circumstances, lonely, and homeless, has received attention from the association at all levels. The association at all levels has coordinated with the authorities and mass organizations to celebrate the longevity of 6,316 elderly people, with a total amount of over 2.5 billion VND; presented gifts to more than 1,560 members in difficult circumstances with a total value of over 1.4 billion VND. In addition, the association has also coordinated with the health sector to organize periodic health check-ups for 6,898 members, and treated the eyes of 1,800 people, many of whom had their lenses replaced.

With the results achieved in the period of 2021 - 2025, the Elderly Association of Krong Nang district was awarded a certificate of merit by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Elderly Association and the Provincial People's Committee.
