Vietnam U16s concluded the 2025 CFA Team China International U16 Championship with an emotional 2-1 victory over Saudi Arabia U16s. In the final match of the tournament, host China U16s surprisingly won 5-2 against Australia U16s, thereby winning the championship. This result also meant that coach Cristiano Roland and his team finished in third place overall with 4 points (losing to Australia 1-2, drawing with China 2-2 and winning Saudi Arabia 2-1).
Coach Cristiano Roland praised his students in Vietnam U16: "I am very proud and congratulate the players.
From the first days of training to the matches in the tournament, all work is aimed at helping the children progress and develop, especially learning how to play modern football with high speed and intensity. The time is not long, but my students have matured a lot, showing a serious attitude in training and competition."
Apart from two players who participated in the 2025 AFC U17 Championship, Chu Ngoc Nguyen Luc and Nguyen Van Duong, the Vietnam U16 team is playing in an international tournament for the first time.
Coach Cristiano Roland emphasized: “Each player carries within them the strength of the Vietnamese people. When that strength is maximized, no obstacle can overcome them. Even if the opponent is stronger, the conditions are better, but with the quality and spirit of Vietnam, they can still overcome. U16 Vietnam has the right to be proud of that.”
