Thailand coach confident before semi-final against Myanmar, unexpectedly mentions Vietnam

The coaches of the Thai and Myanmar women's teams shared their thoughts at a press conference ahead of the semi-final match of the 2025 AFF Women's Championship (AFF Women's Cup).

On August 16, the semi-finals of the 2025 AFF Women's Cup will be held at Lach Tray Stadium, Hai Phong . The Thai women's team will face the Myanmar women's team at 4 p.m. The match will have VAR.

At noon on August 15, representatives of the teams attended a press conference before the round for the four strongest names of the tournament. Here, the head coach of the Thai women's team - Futoshi Ikeda said: "I am very happy that Thailand is in the semi-finals of the 2025 AFF Women's Cup, the players have done everything they can. We are very excited before entering the next match. The Thai players are gradually getting better and the coaching staff will continue to help them have the best preparation for the match against Myanmar".

Thailand coach: Vietnam has home field advantage

Regarding the loss to the Vietnamese women's team in the final round of the group stage, Mr. Futoshi Ikeda shared: "In the 0-1 loss to Vietnam, we followed our plan. Anyway, Thailand has reached the semi-finals, I encourage the players to be confident and look forward to the next match."

When asked about the 2025 AFF Women's Cup final, the Japanese coach said: "We cannot predict anything, because this is football. Vietnam is the home team and has the support of fans. Meanwhile, the Australian team is also in good form from the group stage. The Thai women's team will be well prepared no matter which team they face."

On the other side, Myanmar coach Uki Tetsuro affirmed: "This is a quality tournament with many quality teams. We only have 2 days to recover, and are focusing on preparing the best for the semi-final match with Thailand."

"In the group stage, Myanmar faced many strong opponents. Therefore, once again I would like to thank the players for fighting with all their might. Myanmar went through many difficulties, but the players tried their best and performed their best to win tickets to the semi-finals," added coach Uki Tetsuro.
