The ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) has made a preliminary list of 17 players and will select more personnel to meet the preparation schedule (match against MU at Bukit Jalil Stadium - Malaysia on May 28, under the leadership of Vietnam national team coach Kim Sang-sik). The players who have withdrawn from the ASEAN All Star squad are either because their clubs do not want to release them, or because their national teams have their own plans.
This number includes center back Dominic Tan and striker Sergio Aguero (Malaysia); center back Muhammad Ferarri (Indonesia); right back Nicholas Mickelson (Thailand, 1 other player as a replacement). Up to this point, the Southeast Asian All-Stars team has only 14 players, including 3 Thai players, 1 Indonesian player, 1 Malaysian player, 2 Cambodian players, 1 Brunei player, 1 Timor Leste player, 1 Myanmar player, 1 Lao player and 3 Vietnamese players (Duy Manh, Quang Hai, Hoang Duc). The Philippines and Singapore teams have not sent any players.

Coach Peter Cklamovski of the Malaysian team expressed his opinion that he wants his players to focus on the match with the Vietnamese team in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers, taking place on June 10. The Malaysian team is expected to play 1-2 friendly matches before meeting the Vietnamese team, the time they play the friendly matches may coincide with the date of the match Southeast Asian stars meet MU
Coach Kim Sang-sik is in trouble
For the same reason, Thailand did not send its best players to coach Kim Sang-sik (Thailand will play a friendly match with India on June 4). The three Thai players who will be in the Southeast Asian All-Stars squad, including goalkeeper Patiwat Khammai, midfielder Piradon Chamrasmi and Benjamin Davies, are not the brightest stars of Thai football. Meanwhile, Indonesian player Asnawi Mangkualam was dropped by coach Kluivert from the Indonesian team in recent World Cup qualifiers.
In that context, the match between the Southeast Asian All-Stars and MU could become a burden for coach Kim Sang-sik and the Vietnamese players. The absence of the squad could create a big gap in skill level between MU and the Southeast Asian All-Stars, making it difficult for Vietnamese players to gain professional benefits. Mr. Kim's goal of scouting the best players of the Malaysian team, which was previously set, is also no longer there, because Malaysia has withdrawn all of their good players from the Southeast Asian All-Stars squad.
