After the 0-7 defeat to the Japanese women's team on the afternoon of September 28, coach Mai Duc Chung shared: "The Vietnamese women's team really did not play well. The Japanese women's team is very strong, they completely deserved to win. Besides, the Vietnamese players were a bit "in the clouds" and lost focus, especially after the matches against Germany and the US with close scores. This is what I have learned."

Regarding the performance of the Vietnamese women's players, Mr. Chung said that the whole team has competed in many tournaments since the beginning of 2023, so their physical strength is not guaranteed when entering the 19th ASIAD. "It is also possible that due to focusing on the World Cup, especially the friendly preparation period, their physical strength has declined and they are no longer able to maintain their form. The team's strength at the ASIAD also suffered a lot due to the absence of Huynh Nhu and Chuong Thi Kieu," Mr. Chung explained.

“I knew this match would be very difficult because Japan is a strong team. We had also prepared a defensive counter-attack plan, but our defense was broken in many places, partly due to our weakness and inability to mark people. The Japanese team does not have any stars, but they have a balanced squad and reasonable tactics. This is a lesson for the players to learn from, and we must have matches like this so that we can move forward, learn and develop in the future,” said coach Mai Duc Chung.

The players of the Vietnamese women's team cannot create any surprises.

The 0-7 loss to the Japanese women's team has made the door to the quarterfinals for the Vietnamese team much narrower. At this point, coach Mai Duc Chung's team must wait for the results of the matches in Group A and E to determine whether they will advance to the next round or not. In Group A, the Chinese women's team must beat Uzbekistan by 11 goals or more, or the Myanmar team must draw with the Philippines for the Vietnamese women's team to have a chance to advance.

In the match taking place at 6:30 p.m. Vietnam time, the Philippine women's team defeated the Myanmar girls 3-0, with goals from the 11m mark by Bolden in the 19th minute and a double by Eggesvik Sara (minutes 60 and 61). With this result, the Philippine women's team ranked first in the group of best second-place teams with 3 points and a goal difference of +1. This means that the Vietnamese women's team officially stopped at the group stage, equal on points but with a lower goal difference than the remaining opponents.
