At the end of the group stage, the Vietnamese women's team won first place in Group A with 9 absolute points after 3 wins, scoring 14 goals and conceding no goals. Meanwhile, in Group B, Australia ranked second with 6 points after 2 wins and 1 loss.
Coach Mai Duc Chung said: “The Vietnamese women’s team is excited to prepare for the match. The two teams are evenly matched. Australia is very young and has prepared well for the national team.
We hope to play well in the upcoming match. Hopefully fans will come to the stadium to support the Vietnamese women's team."
The Australian women's team will be at a physical disadvantage compared to the Vietnamese women's team.
In the group stage, the "kangaroo country" team had to play 3 matches/7 days with the Philippines, Myanmar and Timor Leste while the home team only had to do this with Thailand.
Not only that, the Australian women's team also had one day less rest than the host.
Coach Mai Duc Chung expressed his determination: "Tomorrow with the advantage of 1 more day off, we have prepared well.
The team strives for every match the same, with high determination no matter who the opponent is. Play our best to get good results".
Meanwhile, captain Huynh Nhu expressed her wish for fans to come to the stadium to cheer for the home team.
The striker born in 1991 said: “This is not the first time playing at home. The Vietnamese women's team is striving, hoping that in the upcoming match, more spectators will come, bringing a better atmosphere. That is a great source of motivation.”
The semi-final match between the Vietnamese and Australian women's teams will take place at 8:00 p.m. on August 16 at Lach Tray Stadium ( Hai Phong ).
