Appearing on the judging panel of the Talent Rendezvous program, Ho Ngoc Ha not only attracted attention with her radiant demeanor but also with her sharp, emotional comments on the contestants. Contrary to speculations that she accepted the role for benefits or fame, the singer shared that the reason came entirely from her emotions and her sympathy with the spirit of the program.
"People think that being a judge will bring many benefits, but for me, salary or specific benefits are not the deciding factors. Especially the weekly travel between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City also takes a lot of time. What made me accept the hot seat was the emotion," the singer shared.
Ho Ngoc Ha said she saw the dedication of the production team - those who wanted to breathe new life into a reality TV show for young talents, which was re-broadcast on a national channel. That sincerity combined with her love for Hanoi made her immediately agree when she received the invitation.
"I want to use my own emotions and experiences to give the most sincere advice to the candidates. This is not a hard job but a precious opportunity for me to accompany young people on their journey to pursue their passion," she said.
As a judge, Ho Ngoc Ha does not choose a fixed model: "I give comments on the contestants depending on each situation. For example, when the previous two judges (musician Huy Tuan and singer Truc Nhan - PV) have already given very harsh comments, I will choose a softer way of speaking. The contestants are still very young, standing on stage in front of millions of viewers, their families and relatives watching, an insensitive comment can make them lose their spirit."
According to Ho Ngoc Ha, the important thing when sitting in the hot seat is not only professional knowledge and intelligence (IQ), but also emotional regulation (EQ) to understand when to be gentle and when to be strict.
"There is no need to try to be strict or 'dangerous' to make an impression. It is the right gentleness and frankness when needed that makes the program attractive and helps the contestants progress. There are times when I use compliments to test whether in that praise, you have enough courage to maintain your spirit and pursue the path you have chosen," she said.
Ho Ngoc Ha said that she and many audiences have gradually identified the most prominent faces of the competition season: "The excellent contestants are already very prominent. Everyone has a clear Top 3 or Top 4 and so do I."
