Joy in the new home
As one of the households supported with 80 million VND to build a new house under the Housing Support Project for NCC with the revolution and relatives of martyrs in Quang Tri province, Mr. Le The Quoc (born in 1946) in Luong Yen residential group, Quang Ninh commune was very excited when after nearly a year of construction, his family's spacious and solid level 4 house was completed and put into use. No longer having to live in a makeshift house in a dilapidated, degraded house is the long-standing wish of his whole family.
Mr. Quoc emotionally shared: “I participated in combat duty at Ben Ferry Quan Hau from 1968 - 1970. After being discharged from the army and returning to my hometown, because my family did not have the means, I have had to live in an old, dilapidated level 4 house for a long time. At over 80 years old, building a house is very difficult, but now with the support of the State and local authorities, my family is trying to borrow more money to rebuild the house. My dream of having a decent, solid house for many years has now come true, I am very happy. This is a priceless gift that the Party, State and local authorities have given me.”
Sharing the same joy, Mrs. Bui Thi Su (born in 1945) in Buoi Roi village, Phu Trach commune, also received support from the project with an amount of 40 million VND to renovate her house. Mrs. Su was awarded the First Class Medal of Resistance against America by the State. Unable to hide her joy and emotion, she said: “My family's house was built a long time ago, but now it has seriously degraded. For many years, due to difficulties, we have not had the conditions to renovate it. Now with the State's support, I have renovated the house to
The house is more spacious. Looking at the house that has been renovated, I am really happy. The attention of the Party, the State and the province is a great source of encouragement for my family."
Excitement and emotion are the common feelings of the revolutionary veterans and martyrs’ relatives when living in new houses. The houses still smelling of paint are invaluable assets that contribute to bringing joy and a better life, and are a worthy reward for the efforts of the revolutionary veterans and martyrs’ relatives in the province.
As of July 11, Quang Tri has started to build, renovate and repair 98% of houses for NCC and martyrs' relatives, of which 86% have been completed. With the serious and responsible participation of the local government, thousands of policy households in the province have had their houses solidified, many have built spacious and beautiful houses at a cost many times higher than the supported budget. |
Spread the faith
Over the years, the NCC with the revolution, the relatives of martyrs in Quang Tri province have been regularly cared for and helped by the Party, the State, and local authorities with many support programs and policies. The movements to build the "Repaying gratitude" Fund, helping families with meritorious services have been increasingly strongly promoted, mobilizing the active participation of all levels, sectors and the people. From there, contributing to increasingly improving the material and spiritual life of NCC.

In Quang Tri province, many NCCs are disabled, have poor health, and are unable to work, so many households have to live in dilapidated, makeshift, and degraded houses, making it very difficult for them to improve their housing. To overcome this problem, on November 22, 2024, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 21/2024/QD-TTg on supporting the construction of new houses or the renovation and repair of houses for NCCs with the revolution and relatives of martyrs, promptly responding to the thoughts and aspirations of NCCs.
Through screening, Quang Tri has 4,918 households of war invalids and martyrs' relatives receiving housing support, of which 846 households were newly built and 4,072 households were repaired. With active and drastic participation, the province has started construction, repair and renovation of 4,832 houses for war invalids, of which 830 were newly built and 4,002 were repaired and renovated. To date, the number of newly built, renovated and repaired houses is 4,203, of which 586 were newly built and 3,617 were repaired and renovated.
From living in makeshift, dilapidated houses, thousands of war veterans and martyrs’ relatives now have new, more solid and cozy homes. Each completed house not only brings stability and safety in terms of accommodation, but also serves as a spiritual support, giving strength for war veterans to continue to live happily, healthily, meaningfully, and continue to contribute to building their homeland and country.
Mr. Nguyen Duc Cuong, Deputy Director of the Department of Construction, said: “In the process of implementing the Housing Support Project for NCC with the revolution and martyrs’ relatives, Quang Tri province always ensures publicity, transparency, and the right beneficiaries. In particular, to help NCC build houses more conveniently, the department has issued typical housing designs for families to refer to and apply. This not only helps households save design time but also ensures consistency, significantly saving construction costs.”
