The legend of Thach Sung is so familiar to the public, now Hoa Hiep has transformed it into a folk comedy with new explanations.

Hoa Hiep wants to borrow old stories to talk about the present.

Although it was a performance about 1 hour long in his directing exam, Thach Sung - a strange day (subject lecturer: Le Nguyen Dat) by Hoa Hiep brought the audience charming laughter on the evening of May 20.

Gecko - A Strange Day is based on the folk tale of Gecko but has some strange "twists" to make the old story both strange and familiar.

The play is about a lazy couple named Thach Sung who begged for money but became so rich that they saved up a pot of gold and buried it in the mountains.

One day, because the secret of heaven was revealed, they suddenly became even richer, becoming the rich people in the village.

But is being rich because of profiteering, being rich because of inhumanity, living on the blood and bones of others sustainable? This is the question that Thach Sung - a strange day wants to send to everyone.

Hoa Hiep shared that he was getting older so he decided to study directing to gain more knowledge for his career. Since studying directing, he has been happy because his ability to analyze characters has become more profound.

On the stage, Hoa Hiep has participated in many folk comedies. Most recently, he played the role of Cu San in the play 12 Midwives and the prince in the great battle of Tam Cam at the Idecaf Drama Theater.

Hoa Hiep also acted in the play Thach Sung . However, when choosing a script to compete, he decided to rewrite the script according to his own interpretation.

He expressed that he saw in Thach Sung elements that he could create and innovate. And the way Hiep chose was to express the story from a humorous, satirical perspective.

"In today's life, we see many cases of corruption because of money. Because of money, people can do anything, leading to unpredictable consequences for the community.

I want to use old stories to talk about the present, what you sow is what you reap.

However, I did not choose a bitter ending but to awaken people. That is a humane perspective so that those who have made mistakes know the way back" - Hoa Hiep shared about his brainchild.

Thach Sung - a strange day brings the audience subtle laughter and is also the motivation for Hoa Hiep to want to develop it into a complete comedy in the future.
