BTO-“Museums, Sustainability and Wellbeing”, this is the theme of International Museum Day 2023 (May 18) proposed by the International Council of Museums (ICOM), as an affirmation that museums have the power to transform the world around us. In Binh Thuan, the Provincial Museum has been carrying out activities to do this througheducational programs, exhibitions, community reception and research.
At 4 tourist attractions: Provincial Museum (4 Ba Trieu), Po Sah Inư Tower Relic (Phu Hai), Cham Cultural Exhibition Center (Phan Hiep - Bac Binh) and the Binh Thuan Provincial Party Committee Base Relic Site during the resistance war against the US in Sa Lon (Dong Giang - Ham Thuan Bac), Binh Thuan Provincial Museum has organized to widely introduce to visitors collections of valuable historical and cultural artifacts, display pictures of festivals, local scenic spots, perform arts, traditional crafts and serve according to the needs of visitors.
In the first quarter of 2023 alone, the Provincial Museum welcomed more than 27,000 visitors to visit, study and research at the sites, including nearly 700 foreign visitors. At the same time, it coordinated with schools to implement traditional education for students through activities to return to the source and learn about heritage, with thousands of students and teachers participating. Thereby, it aroused passion, created motivation for students to study, create, develop skills and be aware of protecting the cultural heritage, historical relics and scenic spots of the province.
In addition, the professional departments have organized surveys, research, collected and received many valuable artifacts to add to the collection of artifacts for research and display to serve visitors; inventoried and preserved nearly 30,000 original museum artifacts; surveyed, inventoried, compiled records to rank and protect historical and cultural relics and scenic spots throughout the province...
Based on the theme set by the International Council of Museums (ICOM), the activities of Binh Thuan Provincial Museum are inseparable from the general orientation, which is to continue implementing activities to display, educate on cultural heritage and communicate the museum.
Enhance digital transformation in museum activities, from research, collection to display, cultural heritage education and communication promotion. Research and apply a variety of technologies that can be applied in displaying and introducing cultural heritage, in line with the trend of technological development in the coming time. At the same time, proactively use social media networks in combination with online information pages and other forms of communication to introduce museum activities and exhibition content effectively and in accordance with regulations. Carry out assigned tasks in the plan to implement traditional education for students through cultural heritage and the program "Promoting lifelong learning activities in libraries, museums, and cultural centers by 2030".
Held since 1977, International Museum Day on May 18 is launched annually by the International Council of Museums - ICOM, with a specific theme for museums around the world to act together, constantly diversify, improve quality and efficiency under the motto "Museums are an important means of cultural exchange, enriching culture and developing mutual cooperation, understanding and peace among peoples, raising public awareness of the role of museums in the development of society".
