Activities of Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung in Saudi Arabia

During his working trip to Saudi Arabia, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung led the Vietnamese delegation to attend the 9th Future Investment Initiative (FII) Conference. This is an initiative on the annual International Economic Forum initiated by Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia Mohammed Bin Salman.

In the capital Riyadh, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung chaired the Vietnam-Saudi Arabia Investment Forum. Introducing Vietnam's extensive reforms, the Deputy Prime Minister made a number of proposals to promote cooperation between the two countries, including strengthening the connection between the two economies ; promoting bilateral trade; promoting cooperation in renewable energy; expanding investment, science-technology cooperation, innovation, digital transformation; organizing cultural exchange events and trade connection activities, and exchanging business delegations.

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung also had meetings with the Minister of Economy and Planning, representatives of large corporations and investment funds of Saudi Arabia.

★ On October 29 (local time), starting his working trip to the UK, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung led a Government delegation to visit the Sci-Tech Daresbury Science and Technology Park (Manchester city), established in 2006, operating under the public-private joint venture model. The Deputy Prime Minister assessed this as a typical model of the UK in developing an integrated science-technology and innovation ecosystem. Vietnam has a National Innovation Center (NIC) with similar functions.

The Deputy Prime Minister suggested that the two sides strengthen cooperation in developing research infrastructure, technological innovation and training high-quality human resources. The Vietnamese Government is willing to create favorable conditions for Sci-Tech Daresbury to cooperate long-term and effectively in Vietnam, together promoting research, innovation, technology transfer, etc.
