Due to being isolated and separated by rising floodwaters after storm No. 10, on October 6, 399 students of Lien Minh Primary School (Duc Minh commune, Ha Tinh province) returned to school after a week off.

During the flag-raising ceremony at the beginning of the week, Mr. Nguyen Tien Dong - Principal of the school sent words of encouragement to the students and their families for the losses and difficulties caused by storms and floods. Especially on the occasion of the Mid-Autumn Festival, the school's teachers prepared a small but meaningful gift for the students. Each student received a moon cake that Ms. Pham Thi Kim Tuyen - Team Leader called on donors, parents and teachers to donate money to buy for the students.

After a long break from school, many students expressed their excitement and emotion when receiving the gifts. At the flag-raising ceremony, the school leaders also expressed their thanks to the local authorities, agencies, and donors who helped the school clear the flood to welcome students back to school.

Students were excited to receive gifts after a long time off school.

"Recently, many localities have suffered from continuous storms and floods. Many villages were wiped out, students there lost all their books, clothes, and even had no school to study. Today, we are lucky to be back at school. Please try to study well so as not to disappoint everyone's heart," emphasized Mr. Nguyen Tien Dong - Principal of the school at the flag-raising ceremony.

Duc Minh commune was isolated by flood water for 5 days, causing traffic disruption.

The leaders of Lien Minh Primary School also shared that previously, storm No. 5 had blown off the roof of the school's stage. While the damage from the previous storm had not yet been repaired, storm No. 10 made landfall, causing damage to many school buildings. In particular, after the storm, floodwaters rose to a depth of 1.5-2m. The school suffered damage to many trees, desks, chairs, and books.

By October 3, when the floodwaters had gradually receded, all staff, teachers, authorities and parents gathered to clean up, wash desks and chairs, and disinfect classrooms to welcome students back.
