
Attending and witnessing the signing ceremony were Politburo member, Chairman of the National Assembly of Vietnam - Tran Thanh Man and Politburo member, Chairman of the National Assembly of Laos - Saysomphone Phomvihane.
Also attending the program were Alternate member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee - Luong Nguyen Minh Triet and Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Luang Prabang province - Mr. Vongsavanh Thepphachanh.

According to the signed content, the two cities agreed to cooperate, support and help each other in areas of strength; share experiences in management, restoration, conservation and promotion of heritage values.
The two sides shared measures and methods to ensure the exploitation of heritage values to serve tourism in a sustainable and effective manner and bring long-term benefits to the people; organized short-term training courses and experience exchanges for officials working in cultural management and heritage management of each side.
In particular, the two localities will cooperate strongly in the field of tourism, organizing tours connecting the two world cultural heritages; sharing experiences in tourism promotion, advertising and management activities of each side.
At the same time, coordinate to organize cultural events, promote tourism in each locality or coordinate to organize domestic and foreign tourism promotion to promote the image and value of the World Cultural Heritage - Hoi An Ancient Town and the World Cultural Heritage - Luang Prabang Ancient Capital to connect and attract more and more tourists to each locality.

Through this cooperation, it will contribute to further tightening the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, two States and peoples of Vietnam - Laos, Laos - Vietnam.
Previously, in September 2024, Vice Chairman of the Vietnamese National Assembly - Nguyen Duc Hai met with Vice Chairman of the Lao National Assembly - Sommad Pholsena during his visit to Hoi An.
With similarities in culture and architecture, and both cities have ancient urban areas recognized by UNESCO as World Cultural Heritage and are also one of the top tourist destinations in the world. Therefore, the leaders of the two countries' National Assembly have proposed establishing a cooperative relationship between Hoi An, Vietnam and Luang Prabang, Laos.
In recent times, Hoi An City has built friendly cooperative relations with domestic localities and many foreign cities such as Japan, Korea, Germany, Hungary, Australia, China... and now officially established friendly relations with Luang Prabang City, Laos.
Expanding connections with cities around the world increasingly affirms Hoi An's role in international cooperation and exchange; at the same time, it is an opportunity for the city to take advantage of external resources to supplement and strengthen its inherent potential to gradually develop Hoi An further in the future.
