On November 23, in Hanoi, the 6th National Patriotic Emulation Congress of the Vietnam Red Cross Society , period 2025-2030, took place to summarize and comprehensively evaluate the patriotic emulation movement and reward work in the period 2020-2025; propose directions, tasks and solutions for the emulation movement in the period 2025-2030.
Attending the ceremony were General Trinh Van Quyet, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission; leaders of central departments, ministries, branches, diplomatic agencies, international organizations and organizations in the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement; and 270 typical and advanced delegates representing all levels of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement and enterprises nationwide who were commended and honored.
The Congress is an event of special political and social significance, taking place on the occasion of the Association's 79th anniversary (November 23, 1946 - November 23, 2025) and the implementation of the "Humanitarian Power 2025" Program; a "great festival" honoring the humanitarian spirit and spreading compassion in the community.
On behalf of the Party and State leaders, Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission Trinh Van Quyet acknowledged and commended the spirit of dedication, creativity and devotion of all cadres, members and volunteers; at the same time congratulated the great and comprehensive results that the patriotic emulation movement of the Vietnam Red Cross Society has achieved in the period of 2020-2025.
Comrade Trinh Van Quyet stated that our country is transforming itself, entering a new development stage with many opportunities intertwined with challenges; rapid population aging, climate change, natural disasters, epidemics, social risks; and the need to strengthen social security is increasingly high.
In that context, the Party and State require the Vietnam Red Cross to continue affirming its position as a core humanitarian organization in the political system, a bridge between the Party, the State, the people and international friends in the humanitarian field; strongly promote the patriotic emulation movement, and spread more humanitarian gestures in life.
The Vietnam Red Cross Society needs to continue to thoroughly grasp Ho Chi Minh's thoughts on patriotic emulation and on humane Vietnamese people through concrete and practical actions; strongly promote the "Humane Strength" and "Humane Month" programs throughout the Society and the entire population; consider this an important factor in the Society's patriotic emulation movement, contributing to building "patriotic-humane-responsible-creative-integrated Vietnamese people".
In addition, strongly innovate the content and methods of emulation activities; link emulation with sustainable development programs and social security goals. Proactively advise and propose policies on "humane economy", socialize humanitarian resources, encourage businesses, organizations and individuals to join hands to build a "humane society - no one is left behind".
“The Vietnam Red Cross Society needs to promote humanitarian digital transformation, map the number of vulnerable people, modernize relief work, expand the volunteer network, strongly develop the blood donation movement, and organ and tissue donation; and take care of community health, especially in remote and isolated areas,” said comrade Trinh Van Quyet.
The Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission also suggested that the Vietnam Red Cross Society promote its role in people-to-people diplomacy and humanitarian diplomacy, contributing to spreading the image of "Vietnam - a nation of compassion and global responsibility"; closely coordinate with the Vietnam Fatherland Front and its member organizations, build a humanitarian front for all people - a deeply connected, synchronous and effective network, linking humanitarian work with the patriotic emulation movement, with building the great national unity bloc.
At the same time, pay attention to building a team of new-age humanitarian cadres with deep patriotism, dedicated to serving the people, with sacrifice and compassion. Focus on developing the Red Cross youth force - the next generation carrying the fire of compassion in their hearts, contributing to moral education, personality and nurturing the aspiration to contribute to the community and the Fatherland.
Speaking at the Congress, President of the Vietnam Red Cross Society Do Thi Thu Thao stated that over the past 79 years, the Society's journey has been one of connecting hearts and spreading love. The greatest strength of the Vietnam Red Cross Society is not in the scale of its resources, but in its love for its people and national sentiment.
Therefore, we are more aware of our responsibility for the difficulties that our people in the central region are facing. Every contribution from us, no matter how small, can be a support to help our people overcome difficulties.
With that noble mission, the President of the Vietnam Red Cross Society called on each delegate to return to their locality after the success of the Congress, promoting the tradition of "helping each other" and accompanying the Society in mobilizing humanitarian resources for the central region.
“Let us continue the spirit of the Congress with practical actions: join hands, contribute, and provide timely support to help people in flood-affected areas stabilize their lives and rebuild what natural disasters have swept away. Let us call on individuals and groups, together with the Red Cross at all levels, to join hands with the people of the central region to overcome the floods,” the President of the Vietnam Red Cross Society emphasized.
At the Congress, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) were awarded the Friendship Medal by the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
On this occasion, 209 individuals with outstanding achievements in the patriotic emulation movement of the Vietnam Red Cross Society, period 2020-2025 received Certificates of Merit from the Central Executive Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society.
Over the past 5 years, the patriotic emulation movement of the Vietnam Red Cross Society has continued to affirm itself as a special mass movement - competing to do humanitarian work, competing for the poor and vulnerable. The entire Society has mobilized and assisted more than 102 million people, with a total value of more than 29,186 billion VND, an increase of 45% compared to the previous period, actively contributing to the implementation of social security goals, caring for the disadvantaged, and supporting sustainable poverty reduction in the country.
