Vietnam - Russia Friendship Association of Bac Giang province celebrates 26th anniversary of establishment

Here, the delegates reviewed the tradition of building and growing up of the Association. 75 years ago, nearly 4 months after Vietnam and the Soviet Union officially established diplomatic relations, the Vietnam - Soviet Union Friendship Association was established on May 23, 1950. This was an important event marking a historical milestone in the friendship between the Vietnamese people and the Soviet people.

On the basis of inheriting the organization, operational experience, goals and tasks of the Vietnam - Soviet Union Friendship Association, the Vietnam - Russian Federation Friendship Association was established on December 19, 1994 and took May 23 as the annual Traditional Day. In Bac Giang, the Vietnam - Russian Federation Friendship Association of the province was established on July 27, 1999. Currently, the Association has 5 member branches with 155 members.

The purpose and motto of the Association is to strengthen the traditional friendship and mutual understanding between the people of Vietnam and the Russian Federation. To seek the sympathy and support of the Russian people for the cause of national construction and defense of the Vietnamese people, contributing to consolidating the traditional friendship, promoting cooperation and development between the two countries in general and between Bac Giang province and localities of the Russian Federation in particular. In addition, the Association regularly cares about helping members develop the economy , and unite and help each other in life.

Cadres, members and their families must well implement the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws; fully participate in patriotic emulation movements at the local level, grassroots level and people's foreign affairs activities organized by the Central Association and the Provincial Union of Friendship Organizations.

At the meeting, a discussion was held: "Deep memories of the former Soviet Union - the Russian Federation today". Delegates and members were moved to recall the time they lived, studied, worked, and did business in the former Soviet Union and the Russian Federation today with good feelings; affirming that the friendship between Vietnam and the Russian Federation will never fade.

Speaking at the meeting, comrades Nguyen Dang Phat and Nguyen Duc Trong acknowledged and praised the results that the Vietnam - Russia Friendship Association of Bac Giang province has achieved in recent times.

In the coming time, the comrades hope that the Vietnam - Russia Friendship Association of the province will regularly pay attention to innovating its operating methods; continue to be a bridge connecting Bac Giang with Russian investors, businesses and partners in cultural exchange, cooperation and trade promotion activities. Strengthen propaganda and mobilize Bac Giang people abroad to promote the tradition of patriotism and humanity, actively respond to patriotic emulation movements, campaigns launched by the Vietnam Fatherland Front and participate in charitable and humanitarian activities.

On this occasion, the Central Committee of the Vietnam - Russia Friendship Association awarded a Certificate of Merit to the Vietnam - Russia Friendship Association of Bac Giang province for its active contributions to foreign affairs; and presented commemorative medals to individuals with outstanding achievements in the Association's work. The Vietnam - Russia Friendship Association of the province awarded admission decisions to new members.
