The City Women's Union commended many collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in preventing, fighting and supporting the recovery from the consequences of Storm No. 3.

(Haiphong.gov.vn) - On the morning of September 18, the City Women's Union organized a program to support people affected by storms and floods, reward groups and individuals with outstanding achievements in preventing and overcoming Storm No. 3; coordinate to award scholarships to students and orphans, give gifts to students in difficult circumstances who have excelled in their studies and sign an agreement with Loc Phat Vietnam Bank.

Storm No. 3 passed, preliminary estimates of property damage were about 40,000 billion VND, of which Hai Phong suffered about 11,000 billion VND. In addition to public works, national defense and security, schools, medical facilities , factories, plants, crop areas, aquaculture, and trees that were destroyed, the entire city had 102,873 damaged houses. Among them, there were 564 families of members, women in difficult circumstances, especially difficult circumstances. There were families who, after taking shelter from the storm, had no home to return to because the construction was too badly damaged and unsafe.

Comrade Vu Thi Kim Lien, President of the City Women's Union, informed about the activities that the City Women's Union has implemented in recent times.

Understanding the difficulties and losses, as soon as the storm passed, the City Women's Union promptly provided emergency support to 79 families of members and women in especially difficult circumstances who suffered great losses, each family with 3 million VND. At the same time, grassroots union officials and core members wholeheartedly and actively participated with functional forces in cleaning up the environment, collecting waste to prevent epidemics arising from the consequences of the storm; participated in preparing meals and drinking water for the storm evacuation area and the environmental sanitation force...

At the program, the City Women's Union awarded Certificates of Merit to 11 groups and 06 individuals who had outstanding achievements in preventing, fighting and supporting the recovery of the consequences of Storm No. 3; received more than 240 million VND in cash, 10 tons of necessities and 1,585 uniforms. The City Women's Union coordinated with Ha Long Canned Food Joint Stock Company to award scholarships to 20 students of Vietnam Maritime University and Hai Phong University of Management and Technology, each scholarship worth 5 million VND; awarded scholarships to 20 orphans with difficult circumstances and good academic performance, each scholarship worth 2 million VND.

Also at the program, the City Women's Union and Loc Phat Bank Vietnam Hai Phong Branch ( LPBank ) signed a cooperation agreement to deploy preferential banking product and service packages to support credit for members, women starting businesses, expanding production and business activities, especially supporting members to overcome the consequences of Storm No. 3.
