Dam Thuy has 33 hamlets with many different cultural and geographical characteristics . To keep up with the development and integration, the Women's Union (WU) of the commune proactively innovates appropriate movements and activities, attracting a large number of members to participate , creating strong changes, contributing to promoting local socio -economic development.
Expanding the solidarity of members
Merging from 3 communes: Phong Chau and Chi Vien, Dam Thuy has 33 grassroots branches with 2,355 members. The large number of members is both a pressure and an advantage for the development of the women's movement. In the first 3 months, the Executive Committee of the Commune Women's Union organized 45 branch meetings in an open format, increasing dialogue and listening to feedback from the grassroots. At the same time, the Standing Committee of the Commune Women's Union assigned cadres to be in charge of each hamlet, village, and residential area, directly going down to grasp the situation of each hamlet and household. Thanks to that, the awareness of members in the highland hamlets of Phja Bo, Co Bay, Ban Mom or the hamlets in the plains such as Chi Vien, Phong Chau has been raised; members are united, focused on effectively implementing emulation movements and campaigns launched by the Union and the locality.
From the change of awareness and unification of viewpoints, the Association has built plans and movements of activities suitable for each local branch, marking a clear change: the ideology of members is stable, the emulation movement is maintained in order. Focusing on implementing the movements "5 no, 3 clean", women join hands to build new rural areas, "Education for the masses" ... all received enthusiastic participation from female members. Women in the whole commune organized over 200 clearing and cleaning activities, attracting more than 2,760 workers. The roads in Ban Mom, Ban Khay, Khoi Ky, Na Lan are now much cleaner and tidier than before, contributing to the construction of new rural areas.
During the holidays and celebrations, the bustling atmosphere spreads throughout the hamlets, attracting nearly 3,000 people to participate in cultural, artistic and sports activities. Many folk song, folk dance and sports clubs were launched, creating a community space for women. Ms. Nong Thi Hang, from Ban Mom hamlet, excitedly shared: The birth of the folk song club has helped us women become much more confident. Before, everyone was shy when going on stage, but now every night we practice, we feel happy and our spiritual life is richer.
Along with that, the commune's women's union members also actively participate in social security programs launched by the superior and local unions to promptly support necessities, working days, cash... to support and help hundreds of households affected and damaged after storms No. 10 and 11; help 145 working days to build houses for 3 disadvantaged member households. Visit and encourage hundreds of members of policy families, poor households, on the occasion of Tet, holidays... Those seemingly small things, when maintained regularly, create solidarity strength, the foundation to help the commune's Women's Union successfully complete all assigned tasks.

Project 8: Lighting up confidence - helping women in border areas
In the yard of the Ban Mom hamlet's cultural house, the communication session of the Community Communication Team (CMT) attracted a large number of people in the hamlet to listen. Hamlet Chief Nong Dinh Tinh, Head of the CMT of Project 8, implements gender equality and solves urgent problems for women and children (W&C). The village said: Implementing propaganda about Project 8 has helped change the awareness of men and women in the village. Now, our people understand more clearly about gender equality and the rights of women and children. Men in the village now diligently help their wives with housework and encourage their wives to participate in social activities. Thanks to that, mobilizing movements and activities in the village is also more convenient.
During the year, the Commune Women's Union coordinated to organize 12 communication sessions to eliminate gender prejudice and stereotypes, attracting over 600 participants; organized a campaign to prevent and combat human trafficking with 200 participants. The Good Propaganda Contest of the Communication Team became a vibrant communication activity with many skits and theatrical communication forms that attracted a large number of people to watch. Ms. Hoang Thi Duyen, a member of the women's union of Phja Bo hamlet - Co Bay shared: I used to think that social work was for men, but after listening to communication sessions on gender equality, I understood that women need to know the law, need to speak up when being abused, and actively participate in social activities. I no longer feel inferior. Thanks to Project 8, commune women proactively participate in developing economic models. Through the credit of the Commune Women's Union in coordination with the Bank for Social Policies, the Union is managing 10 loan groups, with 352 households headed by women borrowing capital with a total outstanding loan balance of more than 24 billion VND. This is an important resource that helps hundreds of women develop their family economic models from raising livestock, growing vegetables, growing fruit trees, developing tourism services, etc.
With the confidence to rise up in life, thousands of women boldly participate in social activities such as meeting young people going to join the army; supporting, helping, visiting and encouraging families affected by storms and floods, giving gifts to policy families and poor households on the occasion of Tet and holidays worth hundreds of millions of VND. Participating in cultural, artistic and sports activities, exchanging with Dam Thuy Border Guard Station to strengthen the relationship between the army and people at the border... According to the President of the Women's Union of Nong Thi Bach commune, Project 8 is not only about communication but also a journey to empower women. When women boldly participate, society will change positively.
Actively build the Party, government and develop sustainable communities
Along with encouraging members to develop the economy and participate in social activities, the Commune Women's Union also organizes the study of resolutions, integrating legal propaganda such as: Law on Marriage and Family, Law on Prevention of Domestic Violence... with nearly 1,000 members participating. From the channel of women's members' propaganda and mobilization, 100% of hamlets and villages pledge not to participate in the purchase and sale of PN&TE, not to transport or store prohibited and illegal goods across the border, actively participate in self-management of border markers, fight against and denounce crimes... Many hamlets become bright spots in the movement "family without law violators", the movement "All people protect national security"... The commune area after the merger is large but always stable, creating unity and solidarity in implementing the direction of Party committees at all levels on local socio-economic development, maintaining security and order at the border.
Many monitoring activities have been effectively implemented, especially policies to support poor households, distribute fertilizers and plant varieties from sub-projects. In hamlet meetings, women members are more confident in expressing their opinions and reflecting on issues directly related to community life. Ban Mon hamlet chief Nong Dinh Tinh affirmed: Women now not only listen but also boldly give their opinions and actively participate in social activities. That helps the government grasp reality more closely and adjust policies accordingly.
Women of Dam Thuy commune have proactively innovated their activities and have now attracted a large number of members to effectively implement movements, thereby making an important contribution to the effective implementation of the National Target Program on new rural construction, socio-economic development, and maintaining local security and order. Brightening the image of modern, confident and ambitious women in the border area, actively contributing to the development of the commune on new terrain.
