The contest "OCOP Thai Nguyen - Distilling the quintessence - Spreading identity" in 2025 is chaired by the Department of Economic Cooperation and Rural Development of Thai Nguyen province, in coordination with relevant units.
The contest is expected to have about 35 booths including: Space for displaying, introducing and promoting OCOP products; experience area - introducing local specialties of Thai Nguyen province and some other provinces.
At the OCOP product display area, the Organizing Committee will arrange booths according to product groups (food, beverages, handicrafts, herbs, tourism products and services). Each booth will be designed in a unified manner, bearing OCOP identification, with a nameplate, logo, and product QR code; displaying specialty agricultural products, OCOP products of Thai Nguyen province and some other provinces, prioritizing products with export potential. The booths will be evaluated and voted as "Most impressive OCOP booth".
At the experience area, introducing local specialties, there will be a tea making and tasting area, introducing Thai Nguyen tea culture. An area demonstrating agricultural product processing, tea processing, traditional cake making... of Thai Nguyen province and some other provinces. Next to that is the "OCOP check-in corner" space for tourists to take photos and experience regional culture.
Participants in the contest will include cooperatives, businesses, production households, cooperative groups... with OCOP products of Thai Nguyen province. OCOP products participating in the contest must be recognized as achieving 3 stars, 4 stars to participate in presentations and product introductions. Each participating unit will choose 1 typical product to participate in the contest.
The Organizing Committee bases on product quality, product story, cultural value - local identity; design, packaging and label improvement; business orientation and product development strategy; innovation results, application of science and technology and digital transformation in production and business.

The contest will have 30 awards. Including: 1 highest award for "OCOP product with the best development orientation; 1 award for "OCOP product with the best presentation and story"; 1 award for "OCOP product with the most impressive packaging"; 1 award for "Most favorite OCOP product" (award voted by the audience) and 26 consolation prizes.
At the closing and award ceremony held on day 2 of the Final Round, the Organizing Committee will honor 4 OCOP products recognized by the Central Government as meeting the national 5-star standard in 2025 of Thai Nguyen province.
Within the framework of the contest, the Organizing Committee will deploy 2 thematic discussion programs, including: Discussion with the theme "Developing OCOP products towards sustainability - innovating packaging, designs, product stories"; aiming to raise awareness, share experiences in improving product quality and brand. Discussion 2 with the theme "Connecting OCOP product consumption on digital platforms and modern distribution systems", the Organizing Committee aims to introduce online sales channels, e-commerce, and consumption chain models.
The contest is considered not only an event but also a declaration of quality and a solid launching pad for the Thai Nguyen OCOP brand to reach out and spread.
Regarding the rules, the competition will be divided into 2 rounds. The preliminary round will receive registration documents from cooperatives, enterprises, and production households with OCOP products achieving from 3 to 4 stars. The Organizing Committee will review and select a maximum of 30 typical units representing many typical product groups to participate in the final round.
The final round (held for 2 consecutive days) includes: Round 1 with 30 teams participating in presentations and product introductions, focusing on product stories, packaging designs, and development ideas. The jury will score and select the 10 best teams to enter Round 2. Round 2, with 10 teams continuing to present in-depth presentations on product development orientation (production plan, communication - promotion plan, market expansion potential, partnership and cooperation plans, and export opportunities). From the performances of the 10 teams, the jury will select the best unit to award the highest prize.
