The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training stipulates that parents of students can register for admission to kindergartens, grades 1 and 6 at advanced schools, international integration schools and schools with special programs from now (May 24) to 5:00 p.m. on May 29 at https://tuyensinhdaucap.hcm.edu.vn/ .

9 steps to register for admission to advanced schools and special programs

To register for primary school admission to the above school and class models, parents must follow 9 steps:

Step 1 : Parents use Chrome, Coc Coc, Safari web browser... and access the address: https://tuyensinhdaucap.hcm.edu.vn/ .

Step 2 : On the home screen, parents should carefully read the information about regulations, information, and instructions for enrollment registration.

Step 3 : Parents choose the function [Register for advanced integration or school with special classes], the interface displays the Department of Education and Training recruiting advanced integration schools, parents check the information of the recruiting school and click the [Register] button.

Select the [Register] function button at the Department of Education and Training to register for admission.

Step 4 : Parents enter the personal identification number and password provided to register for admission.

Step 5: The system displays the interface of the international advanced school registration form, parents review the student's final grade profile information and register.

Step 6 : Parents choose the type of school (advanced integrated school, with integrated program...) and the list of schools to register for admission.

Parents should follow the information in the "How to do it" section (if any) to follow the correct registration process.

Step 7 : Each school will have different admission criteria. Parents select the criteria that meet the requirements of the school. Criteria marked with an * are required to apply for admission to the school.

Step 8: Parents enter the security code, check "I hereby commit to declaring correct information" and click the [Register] button.

Step 9 : Parents choose [Agree] to complete the application for admission to a modern advanced school.

In case of wanting to change the registered school, parents select the [Cancel registration] function button and re-register information for another modern advanced school.

The Department of Education and Training's leaders informed that the results of the entrance examinations to kindergartens, primary schools, and secondary schools with special programs will be announced simultaneously by the Thu Duc City Admissions Council and districts from May 30 to no later than 5:00 p.m. on June 4.

In case a student's name is not on the list of successful candidates for schools with special programs or the parent's name is on the list but does not confirm the admission, the student will still be placed in schools in the registered area during the period from May 15 to 19.

The difference between integrated English program and intensive English program

English Enhancement Program

• Vietnamese teachers should have a variety of foreign language skills and accents (however, nowadays the Asian accent, or the so-called "native standard", is no longer as important as before because of globalization, English has many different versions. Unless parents require their children to speak standard British or American English, that's different).
• Since Vietnamese teachers are in charge, students are not required to use English, unless the teacher commands "NO VIETNAMSE IN MY CLASS".

Integrated English Program

• The native teachers have the advantage that the students hear and practice with standard accents. This is a plus.
• Students will be forced to speak English if they want teachers to respond to their requests, although there will be teaching assistants if the situation becomes too difficult for students to help.

Some common misconceptions

• Do children who do not know the letters have difficulty learning English? Children should be introduced to English in preschool and that is why the Ministry of Education and Training includes English in this level of education. However, children only remember the letters, not memorize them and still learn by focusing on speaking and listening, writing and reading, if any, are only at the level of circling and distinguishing right from wrong. This will help children learn English more easily in grade 1.
• Class size also plays a crucial role in learning English. The number of children per period per minute of English practice helps children practice their skills over a long period of time.
