More than 125,000 Vietnamese children in special circumstances to be supported in 2023

At the meeting of the Vietnam Children's Fund's Board of Trustees in 2023 in early December, Mr. Dinh Tien Hai - Director of the Vietnam Children's Fund - said that the Vietnam Children's Fund will provide support for 125,500 children (114.1% of the annual plan), with a support budget of more than 99 billion VND.

The 17th "Spring for You" received more than 96 billion VND

On the evening of December 16, at the Vietnam-Soviet Friendship Cultural Palace ( Hanoi ), the Vietnam Children's Fund organized the 17th "Spring for Children" program with the theme "Flying into the future".

This program is an annual activity of the Vietnam Children's Fund, an outstanding and humane activity in supporting children in special and difficult circumstances, while connecting, spreading and effectively mobilizing domestic and foreign social resources for children.

Launched in 2008, after 16 years of organization, the program "Spring for Children" has mobilized more than 1,375 billion VND, supporting about 4 million children in special and difficult circumstances through the following programs: Granting scholarships, providing clean water systems, supporting surgeries for children with congenital heart defects, eye defects, and movement defects; building classrooms and boarding houses for children in difficult and mountainous areas; helping orphans, homeless children, and destitute children; providing timely relief for children in areas affected by natural disasters and epidemics...

With the theme "Flying into the future", aiming at noble gestures for poor children, children in difficult circumstances with meaningful gifts on the occasion of the Year of the Dragon, the 17th "Spring for Children" has received more than 96 billion VND from more than 50 units and individuals for children in special and difficult circumstances in 2024.

Complete the 2023 plan

Previously, on the afternoon of December 7, the Vietnam Children's Fund's Board of Trustees 2023 met under the chairmanship of Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan, Chairwoman of the Fund's Board of Trustees, and Minister of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs Dao Ngoc Dung, Vice Chairwoman of the Vietnam Children's Fund's Board of Trustees.

Reporting on the summary of the Board of Trustees' activities in 2023, Mr. Dinh Tien Hai - Director of the Vietnam Children's Fund said that the Vietnam Children's Fund has developed a plan for 2023 to mobilize 110 billion VND and support 110,000 children in special and difficult circumstances.

The Vietnam Children's Fund has coordinated with relevant units to organize and implement activities and achieved a number of important results. Regarding resource mobilization in 2023, as of December 5, it reached over 77 billion VND (70% of the annual plan). It is expected that the whole year of 2023 will reach over 111.5 billion VND, ensuring to achieve and exceed the plan assigned by the Sponsoring Council in 2023.

The work of supporting children in especially difficult circumstances has always been directed by the leaders of the Sponsoring Council. As of December 5, the Vietnam Children's Fund has supported 113,833 children (reaching 103.5% of the annual plan); the support budget is over VND 89,667 billion.

It is expected that by December 31, the Vietnam Children's Fund will provide support to 125,500 children (114.1% of the annual plan); the support budget is over 99 billion VND.

Speaking at the meeting, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan emphasized that in recent times, the entire political system, organizations and individuals in society have focused on taking care of children.

Vietnam is one of the bright spots in the region in terms of economic and social recovery and development, ensuring social security, including child care, with the spirit of leaving no one behind.

Compared to other organizations, associations and funds, the Vietnam Children's Fund has an important legal basis, being the only State fund established in 1992 under the Law on Child Protection, Care and Education (now the 2016 Children's Law), which is internationally recognized. The Fund's activities receive attention from ministries, localities, especially philanthropists.

In 2023, the Vietnam Children's Fund will strive to change the content and form of its activities, initially making many innovations to carry out its tasks and achieve positive results.

The Vice President also emphasized that the Vietnam Children's Fund coordinates with domestic and foreign funds, associations and organizations to carry out practical activities to best care for children.

At the meeting, Minister of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs Dao Ngoc Dung informed that by 2024, the Fund will strive to mobilize resources to reach 110 billion VND and support 110,000 children.
