The Houthi group in Yemen announced a series of UAV attacks on Israel in response to Tel Aviv's offensive on the Gaza Strip.
"The Yemeni armed forces launched a large number of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) at several targets in the Israeli-occupied territory. The drones completed their mission," the Houthi group announced on November 1. "The Yemeni armed forces will continue to carry out military operations to show support for the Palestinian people."
The drone attack came a day after the Houthis said they would expand their attacks on Israel if it continued its campaign against Hamas in the Gaza Strip. The Houthis said they had launched ballistic missiles and drones at Israel three times.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) deployed missile boats to the Red Sea on October 31 to bolster defenses in the area against Houthi attacks. The IDF then shot down ballistic missiles and drones launched by the Houthis targeting the southern part of the country.

The Iran-backed Houthi group controls large swaths of Yemen, including the capital Sanaa. The Houthis are fighting a Saudi-led military coalition that intervened in Yemen in March 2015 to restore the government of President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi.
The Houthis say they are part of an “axis of resistance” against Israel, which includes armed groups in Lebanon, Syria and Iraq that are backed by Iran. Iran is considered a financial and military backer of Hamas, but has repeatedly denied any involvement in the group’s attack on Israel on October 7.
Israel is deploying tanks and infantry to attack several positions of Hamas and other armed groups in the Gaza Strip. However, the Israeli Defense Ministry announced that this is not the large-scale attack on the Gaza Strip that the country had planned.
