This is the recognition of the Party, State and people for the great and especially outstanding contributions of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to the revolutionary cause of the Party and our nation.

In any field, in theory or practice, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has made outstanding contributions. This has been recognized by the entire Party and people.

PV: The Politburo has just decided to award the Gold Star Order to General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong. Sir, what is the significance of the Gold Star Order?

Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Trong Phuc: The Gold Star Order is the most noble award of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. This order has existed since the Democratic Republic of Vietnam. The Gold Star Order is awarded to individuals and groups with outstanding achievements in the revolutionary cause of the Party, the State and the country; and those who have made many contributions to the activities they are in charge of.

The meaning of the Gold Star Order is to recognize the merits and contributions of individuals to the country. At the same time, it affirms the role and position of that individual in the revolutionary struggle of the Party, the country, and the nation.

In the medal system, the highest is the Gold Star Medal, followed by the Ho Chi Minh Medal, the Independence Medal...

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong is a famous leader and politician not only domestically but also known and respected abroad. During the past three terms, especially since the 11th Term (2011), General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has made great contributions to the country's development, especially in the period of promoting industrialization, modernization, international integration, and implementing the strategy of protecting the Fatherland in the new situation.

In particular, the General Secretary has made great contributions in theory, with a lot of research and new discoveries in the work: "Some theoretical and practical issues on socialism and the path to socialism in Vietnam". This is a summary of the renovation process associated with the socialist path that Uncle Ho chose. General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong is a “2 in 1” leader, both an outstanding leader and a theorist and scientist. He has skillfully combined the roles of a politician, a leader, a scientist and a theorist.

PV: In the current fierce fight against corruption, what can you say about the role of the Party leader - General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong?

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Trong Phuc: In the fight against corruption and negativity, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has made outstanding contributions. The Party's anti-corruption and negativity work was initiated by Uncle Ho after the August Revolution, aiming to eliminate negativity. His letter to the People's Committees at all levels on October 17, 1945, pointed out the "diseases" of cadres when holding positions and powers. These negativities must be resolutely fought. Uncle pointed out 6 "diseases" in the anti-corruption work that is being carried out to this day.

Throughout its leadership, our Party has always emphasized and paid attention to fighting corruption and negativity, from the war period to national reunification and especially during the renovation period. In particular, negativity in the market economy period must be boldly recognized.

In addition, the impact of peaceful evolution and the infiltration of foreign ethics and lifestyles has made the fight against corruption and negativity urgent. At that time, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, as the head and highest leader of the Party, initiated a large-scale struggle and has brought many results since the 11th term until now.

In 2011, at the 11th Congress, to ensure the unified leadership and direction of the Party, the General Secretary directly assumed the position of Head of the Central Steering Committee on anti-corruption and anti-corruption. Over the past terms, the work of anti-corruption and anti-corruption has achieved many very important achievements. This is a difficult, complicated and long-term battle. Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Trong Phuc: When mentioning an excellent student of Uncle Ho, the first thing to do is to determine the goal and path of revolutionary struggle that the comrade is steadfast in. In particular, we must be steadfast in Ho Chi Minh's viewpoint and ideology. Right after the Party was founded in 1930, Ho Chi Minh was steadfast in his path, ideals, and goals of struggle and was followed by the entire Party and the entire people. Anyone who is an excellent student must consider this.

Second, Ho Chi Minh was an outstanding leader of the Party and also a famous theorist, confirmed by Ho Chi Minh's ideology. Uncle Ho's excellent students must also understand and have a high level of intelligence and theory. Especially imbued with Ho Chi Minh's ideology.

Third, when talking about Ho Chi Minh, we are talking about a shining example of infinite loyalty to the Party, the country and the people. He is also a shining example of revolutionary morality. As an excellent student of Uncle Ho, we must possess this noble quality of Ho Chi Minh, especially in revolutionary morality and anti-individualism.

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong possesses all three of these aspects, especially morality, thrift, integrity, impartiality, and selflessness as taught by Uncle Ho. The General Secretary most clearly demonstrates these noble qualities and ethics following the example of Uncle Ho.

The Gold Star Order is awarded to those who have made great contributions, have exceptionally outstanding works and projects, have had a profound impact, created positive changes, strongly promoted the economic, social, defense and security development of the country, and are recognized and honored by the state.

To date, Vietnam has awarded and posthumously awarded the Gold Star Order to over 141 domestic groups and individuals and 28 foreign individuals. President Ton Duc Thang was the first person to be awarded the Gold Star Order (in 1958).
