Speaking on national radio, Mr Orban expressed strong dissatisfaction with Ukraine's decision to stop allowing Russian gas to pass through its territory to Central Europe.
The move has caused "unacceptable" increases in energy prices, according to the head of the Hungarian government .
Recently, Budapest has officially asked the EU to ensure energy security for this country.
Prime Minister Orban stressed: "If the gas flow is not restored, Budapest will not hesitate to use its veto power on the extension of sanctions against Moscow."
The EU succeeded in extending sanctions against Russia on January 27 after Hungary agreed to drop its objections in exchange for commitments on energy security.
The European Commission said it would continue dialogue with Ukraine on gas supplies to Europe, and expressed readiness to cooperate with Hungary and Slovakia on this issue.
* On January 31, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov officially denied the information that the BRICS group of leading emerging economies had plans to develop their own currency, and expressed concern about US President Donald Trump's latest statement regarding this issue.
Speaking to reporters, Mr. Peskov affirmed: "BRICS is not discussing the establishment of a separate currency. Instead, the group is focusing on building common investment platforms."
In this context, the Kremlin spokesman also noted that US experts should provide more detailed information to President Trump about the actual activities of BRICS.
The Kremlin's statement came after US President Donald Trump once again warned of imposing 100% tariffs on BRICS countries if the group intends to replace the US dollar as a reserve currency.
