According to Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu, people whose farmland is adjacent to the project, the Tay Trang sluice after construction and use has created favorable conditions for agricultural protection, preventing salinity and developing the local economy . However, since then, the flow from the salinity prevention sluice has become very strong. "This phenomenon creates a vortex with high velocity, causing serious landslides when the water level rises and falls" - Mr. Hieu shared.

Although the project has a 15-meter-long concrete anti-landslide protection corridor and an 11-meter-long gabion area, serious landslides have now occurred in the next section. According to records, the landslide is about 15 meters long, 2.5-3 meters wide and up to 5 meters deep. In particular, cracks have appeared on the ground within 15 meters of the culvert, with the risk of collapsing into the canal.

Landslides need to be dealt with soon or they will continue to erode.
The landslide site needs to be embanked soon or it will continue to erode for longer.

Faced with the above situation, Mr. Hieu has repeatedly reported to the local authorities and submitted a petition requesting urgent handling. Chairman of Ngu Hiep Commune People's Committee Nguyen Hong Thuong said that he was aware of the situation and had sent a written report to Cai Lay District People's Committee, Department of Agriculture and Environment, Department of Finance - Planning, Project Management Board and District Land Fund Development to request support in handling the matter.

The changing flow caused many landslides, with many landslides nearly 5m deep.
There are many cleft palate points about 5 m deep.

"Based on the urgent reality and the commune's limited financial resources, we request that the district authorities consider supporting the handling of this landslide to ensure the safety of the people, especially during the upcoming flood and high tide season," added comrade Hong Thuong.

It is known that Tay Trang culvert is a part of the 70B district road project invested in construction to serve the travel needs and economic development of the locality.

According to irrigation experts, if not handled promptly, the landslide situation will become increasingly serious, especially when the rainy season approaches. The remediation needs to be carried out soon with appropriate technical solutions such as embankment reinforcement.

Currently, Ngu Hiep Commune People's Committee is urgently coordinating with relevant units to conduct detailed surveys and propose appropriate treatment plans to ensure safety for local residents and protect the Tay Trang culvert project.

Local residents expressed their hope that the authorities and relevant units will soon fix the problem. “We hope that the authorities and relevant units will fix it soon. If the landslide continues, it will affect the rights of many households. If it is not handled promptly, the land of my house and the surrounding households will continue to erode more severely, causing irreparable damage,” a resident shared.
